This may include riding on a refuse collection vehicle, walking to designated disposal areas, emptying containers into truck, using hand and other tools to pick-up general curbside trash and other duties as directed. Work is performed outside on a varied work schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and overtimes. Work is performed within established Division guidelines, standards, and practices, including established task system varying assignments and hours.</p><p><b>REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS</b></p><p><b>Reports to:</b> Solid Waste Supervisor</p><p>Public Works Director</p><p>City Manager</p><p><b>Supervises: </b> None</p><p><b>ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS</b></p><p>1. Rides on the back of a collection compactor vehicle over a designated route; walks to the waste disposal areas of commercial and residential premises, picking up refuse in containers, bags and piles of yard waste and loading into compactor.</p><p>2. Picks up spilled refuse and other debris, using hand and other tools as required.</p><p>3. Operates lever for truck compactor as communicated with Operator.</p><p>4. Makes special pick-ups as assigned.</p><p>5. Observes surrounding conditions such as citizens, equipment, property, etc., to assure that solid waste is collected in a safe manner; regulates traffic in hazardous conditions to assure safety conditions for the collection personnel and the general public.</p><p>6. Washes collection vehicles on a scheduled basis; hoses down thoroughly on a daily basis; washes dumpsters on a scheduled basis.</p><p>7. Performs daily routine inspection and preventive maintenance as required on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to the Solid Waste Supervisor.</p><p>8. Keeps the Solid Waste Supervisor informed of all work-related issues and problems that may affect and/or improve the operation of their respective areas.</p><p>9. May be required to work in other Divisions on an as needed basis and as assigned by the Solid Waste Supervisor or the Public Works Director.</p><p>10. Performs all duties in conformance with established and appropriate safety and security standards.</p><p>11. Ensures the proper maintenance or equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.</p><p>12. The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibrations, hazards, atmospheric conditions and oils. Performs routine inspections of chemical storage and handling areas to ensure proper labeling, container integrity, compliant storage, and adherence to safety and segregation requirements.</div></li><li><div>
Coordinates the receipt, labeling, communication, distribution, and proper storage of incoming chemical deliveries across assigned departments and locations.</div></li><li><div>
Organizes, stores, and maintains chemical inventories by transferring and staging materials from docks, storage areas, or intersite transfers to designated compliant locations.</div></li><li><div>
Supports chemical receiving and inspection activities by collaborating with Quality Assurance and following established procedures.</div></li><li><div>
Assists with chemical ordering, inventory control, and supply coordination to ensure adequate stock levels, operational readiness, and uninterrupted workflow.</div></li><li><div>
Performs routine waste-handling duties, including collecting, transferring, consolidating, and staging chemical, biological, universal, and process-generated wastes in compliance with site procedures and regulatory requirements.</div></li><li><div>
Handles container emptying, waste movement, and preparation tasks for various liquid and solid waste streams to support safe and efficient operations.</div></li><li><div>
Manages the safe handling, organization, and placement of waste materials within central accumulation areas and chemical storage rooms across all assigned site locations.</div></li><li><div>
Performs segregation, preparation, and recycling activities for universal and special wastes such as batteries, aerosols, electronic materials, and other regulated waste categories.</div></li><li><div>
Monitors prepare, and stages liquid waste containers, used oils, and other production-related wastes for compliant storage and scheduled removal by external vendors.</div></li><li><div>
Completes required waste management documentation, logs, and recordkeeping to maintain accuracy, compliance, and readiness for audits or vendor pickups.</div></li><li><div>
Performs scheduled inspections, preventive maintenance, and condition checks within chemical and waste storage environments at designated locations.</div></li><li><div>
Monitors inventory levels and procure necessary operational supplies, including containers, PPE, drums, absorbents, and related materials.</div></li><li><div>
Coordinates scheduled hazardous and non-hazardous waste pickups by preparing documentation, compiling inventory information, staging materials, and communicating with designated waste management vendors.</div></li><li><div>
Verifies materials during vendor visits, assists with staging and loading, and ensures all procedures follow regulatory and organizational requirements.</div></li><li><div>
Facilitates and documents intersite transfers of chemicals or waste materials to maintain compliant and organized storage and operational continuity.</div></li><li><div>
Receives, unloads, stores, and stages transferred materials, ordered supplies, and operational equipment to support overall chemical and waste management functions.</div></li><li><div>
Supports recycling, scrap removal, loading activities, and required documentation return to appropriate departments.</div></li><li><div>
Performs any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor to maintain safety, environmental compliance, and uninterrupted operational performance.</div></li></ul><div></div><div>
