<p><b>FULL-TIME LIBRARIAN/ARCHIVIST </b></p><p>The East Hampton Library is seeking a second full-time Librarian/Archivist or trainee to work in the Long Island Collection, a special collection and archive dedicated to the history and people of Long Island. The Long Island Collection is committed to digitizing our large manuscript collections, as part of our Digital Long Island Collection site: www.digitallongisland.org and providing exceptional reference service to our patrons.</p><p><b>RESPONSIBILITIES: </b></p><p>Primary responsibilities are local history reference and digitization. Additional responsibilities include the arrangement and description of archival materials, cataloging books and original manuscripts, and periodic clerical work. This job also includes contributing to efforts to highlight the collection through community outreach, researching and writing a weekly email newsletter, and assisting with occasional events and displays. The Library Special Collections and Archives Assistant hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student assistants while providing reference assistance to researchers on campus and around the world who use Special Collections and Archives materials. Core responsibilities include accessioning, processing, and maintaining materials and collections; creating finding aids; evaluating and organizing college records in coordination with campus departments; and digitizing documents to support reference needs and current digital projects. Overview</b><br>
The Miriam &amp; Ira D. Wallach Division of Art, Prints, and photographs is composed of five collections that represent one of the most significant art and art historical research collections in the country. The Print Collection comprises a wide-ranging collection of close to 300,000 original prints and select drawings, along with illustrated books and artists&rsquo; books, that represent the full range of printmaking techniques from the beginnings of the medium into the present and print production around the globe. The Spencer Collection surveys the illustrated word and book bindings of all periods and all countries and cultures, from medieval manuscripts, Japanese scrolls, and Indian miniatures to monuments in Renaissance printing, illustration, livres d'artistes and contemporary artists&rsquo; books.</div><div></div><div><br>
The Librarian II will support public service and instruction for collections held in the Wallach Division, with a focus on the Print and Spencer Collections. <b>This position is temporary through the incumbent's leave.</b></div><div><br>

Responsibilities:</b></div><ul>
<li>Provide excellent, patron-forward research and reference assistance to patrons in the reading room and remotely</li>
<li>Manage and schedule appointments in Aeon, the Library&rsquo;s special collections appointment and circulation management software</li>
<li>Retrieve and serve special collection materials for public service, instruction, exhibition support, curricula and other NYPL events and initiatives</li>
<li>Participate in the Division&rsquo;s programming, instruction, and outreach activities</li>
<li>Contribute to statistics on collection and room use</li>
<li>Perform other related duties as required</li></ul><br>

<li>ALA accredited Master&rsquo;s degree in Library and Information Science</li>
<li>Undergraduate degree in the Arts or Humanities</li>
<li>Demonstrated knowledge of Art History and Visual Studies through academic background, training, interest or expertise</li>
<li>NYS Public Library Certification</li>
