</div><div>What you need to know about this position:

&sect; The Lab Courier is a member of the laboratory team who is responsible for laboratory specimen deliveries from Clinics, Nursing Homes, and Physician Offices to the laboratory with a fixed, pre-arranged time schedule. Specimen deliveries to Indianapolis throughout the week and weekend is expected.

&sect; The Lab Courier&rsquo;s time is spent up to 95% operating a vehicle. The remaining time will be spent going into offices and the hospital, multiple times a day, and help fill orders for offices, and deliver them during the route.
&sect; The Lab Courier position has a base hourly rate $16.73. Individual compensation is determined for this position through years of directly relevant experience. The hourly compensation is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.

&sect; The PRN position is not benefit eligible but offers a premium for hours worked, and the scheduled hours depend on the needs of the department and our patients.

What is required for this position:

&sect; High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
&sect; One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.

&sect; Must have valid Indiana driver&rsquo;s license, and meet the hospital&rsquo;s liability insurance carrier requirements</div></div></div>

Position Summary

Picks up and delivers specimens from laboratory accounts using the hospital vehicle. 


Position Accountabilities

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Maintains required records, reports, and statistics as directed.

Labels and records all test tubes, logs procedures in a logbook, schedules procedures as necessary.

Assists in care and maintenance of laboratory work area and furnishings/equipment.

Maintains good relations with patients, medical staff and other departments as well as other hospitals that use services.

Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.

Attends meetings as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education - Less than High School

Preferred Education - High school or equivalent
