Essential Functions:</p></div><div><p>
1. Performs accurate initial and periodic medical history, physical examinations and daily assessments via rounds, noting patient's condition and needs.</p></div><div><p>
2. Integrates history and physical findings with clinical knowledge to develop appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic plans in collaboration with the supervising physician, documenting such plans in the electronic medical record (EMR).</p></div><div><p>
3. Identifies abnormal findings within an appropriate time-frame and initiates the appropriate intervention.</p></div><div><p>
4. Performs a wide range of medical and/or surgical procedures appropriate to the department to which the fellow is assigned, under physician supervision.</p></div><div><p>
5. Performs follow-up care, monitors progress, and communicates progress as necessary with the attending physician.</p></div><div><p>
6. Provides counseling to patients and significant others related to medical condition.</p></div><div><p>
7. Writes appropriate prescriptions and administers the appropriate medications. Prescribes therapies as appropriate.</p></div><div><p>
8. Orders and interprets daily laboratory and radiology examinations.</p></div><div><p>
9. Documents all patient encounters, records observations, interventions, and actions in a medically appropriate manner on the patient's electronic medical record, utilizing hospital approved abbreviations.</p></div><div><p>
10. Prepares appropriate discharge documentation, including specific medical instructions, patient education, referral and follow up as pertinent to the department for which the fellow is assigned.</p></div><div><p>
11. Provides health care management, functioning within the policies and procedures, the guidelines of both the Nursing Practice Act and the Medical Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.</p></div><p></p><div><p><b>
Physical Requirements:</b> Requires travel between the acute care facility and the ambulatory clinics. Requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support weight of 75 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment and supplies. Must possess an intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, touch and finger dexterity. Atrium Health MSKI Orthopedics &amp; Sports Medicine &ndash; University is a high-performing practice comprised of board-certified orthopedic surgeons and a collaborative team of Advanced Practice Providers. As part of the Atrium Health MSKI network, this practice is embedded in a comprehensive musculoskeletal system that includes orthopedic subspecialists, non-operative sports medicine physicians, and MSK physiatry.<br>

This role partners closely with community outreach athletic trainers supporting high school and collegiate athletics. Atrium Health proudly employs more than 100 athletic trainers across the region in support of the MSKI mission.<br>

<b>Position Overview</b><br>
This position supports a <b>surgical sports medicine physician</b> and includes a blend of outpatient clinic and operating room responsibilities, with participation in a shared night and weekend call rotation. The APP functions as an integral member of the care team, supporting patients across the full continuum of care in both ambulatory and surgical settings.<br>

The Core Faculty Member would have the unique opportunity to assist the Program Director (PD) in creating and growing a brand-new community-based academic residency program with the full support and resources of Stanford Health Care (SHC) and Stanford School of Medicine.</li><li>
The Core Faculty Member with CAQ in Sports Medicine will take a lead in developing the MSK curriculum to train Family Medicine residents and help prepare those interested in a Sports Medicine Fellowship to be competitive with the top applicants in the country. This will also include developing pre-participation and sports sideline activities within our community.</li><li>
The Core Faculty Member will play a central role in curriculum development, resident evaluation, teaching, and scholarly activities within the program, adhering to the ACGME requirements and promoting a culture of excellence and patient-centered care. Such support is in a collaborative capacity only and does not alter the employment relationship, which remains solely with UMP.</li><li>
The Core Faculty Member will receive 40% FTE for direct patient care and 60% FTE for residency program-related activities such as clinical supervision and patient care with residents, curriculum development, didactic sessions, workshops, program administration, scholarly activities, and professional engagement.</li><li>
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to build a new residency program affiliated with Stanford School of Medicine, a preeminent academic institution with established Geriatrics, Medical Informatics, Palliative Care, and Sports Medicine fellowships.</li><li>
