Train fire agency staff and other agency fire personnel in the methods and techniques of fire prevention and control. Update fire and safety posters to promote public awareness of fire safety.</li></ul><div>

Calculate the daily fire ratings, using the National Fire Danger Rating System Guidelines, by calculating indices of the fire weather system using remote automated weather stations, facility weather stations, field calculations and information provided by the National Weather Services. While performing the duties of this classification, incumbents work under exposure to the hazards associated with fires and hazardous chemicals. Incumbents work outdoors in varying terrain. Incumbents may be exposed to all kinds of weather and environmental and biological hazards (e.g. smoke, diesel fumes, ticks, snags, etc.). Incumbents may work in isolated areas for considerable lengths of time, including in enclosed spaces up to 100 feet in the air (i.e. fire towers). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be noisy. Incumbents may be required to work at emergency incidents for extended hours, nights, weekends or holidays and may be subject to on-call status. Incumbents may be required to travel and may be exposed to traffic and other roadway or travel-related hazards.</div><div><b><br>

<br>Under the general supervision and direction of the Community Standards Manager, the primary duty of this position is to respond to emergency calls as a firefighter. In addition, the Fire Inspector I will enforce state and local fire, housing, zoning, health, safety and/or nuisance codes through inspection and public education. The City of Grants Fire &amp; Rescue Department is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Firefighter I&ndash;II / EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic. This position responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue operations, and public safety assistance.</p><p>
Applicants must possess or be able to obtain the required State of New Mexico EMS certification. Preference may be given to candidates holding <b>AEMT or Paramedic certification</b>. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to serving the community.</p><p>

Requirements:
<ul><li>High School diploma, GED or equivalent.</li><li>No experience necessary for Firefighter; EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic, National or NMEMS certification.</li><li>Must have oral and written communication skills in the English Language.</li><li>Must be able to successfully pass probationary/initial training period which includes: all in-house training unless on approved</li></ul><p>
 leave; and completion of Introduction to Firefighter training I-II within one year of employment.</p><ul><li>Must possess or be able to acquire a standard New Mexico Driver&rsquo;s License; and have and maintain a good driving record.</li><li>Must be able to acquire a New Mexico Driver&rsquo;s License &ndash; Class E, or greater.</li><li>Must pass a pre-employment drug test; extensive background check and physical assessment.</li></ul><p>
