Job Summary
Assists the Registered Nurse in providing patient care based on the individualized plan of care for a patient. As delegated, performs basic nursing activities and nursing activities requiring sterile technique, and additional clinical responsibilities as appropriate and necessary for patient population served. Conducts data collection, monitors and documents patient status. Ensures confidentiality of all patient information. Utilizes safe patient handling at all times. Informs RN of activities performed, observations of patients and changes in patient status. Provides a neat and clean patient environment.
Essential Functions<ul><li>

Provides direct patient care within scope of practice as directed by providers and licensed staff in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols based on assigned facility or unit.</li><li>
Provides patient care as delegated by the RN including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile soaks, application of sterile simple dressings and non-sterile simple dressings, perineal care, basic ostomy care, nasal cannula, phlebotomy, EKG's and incentive spirometry.</li><li>
Insertion and removal of straight catheters (in &amp; out catheters) and removal only of Foley catheters may be performed with appropriate training and clinical competency validation.</li><li>
Performs data collection including vital signs, oxygen saturation, temperature, cardiac monitoring, non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems, collection of basic/sterile specimens, and documents fluid intake and outtake.</li><li>
Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN. Reports lab values to RN.</li><li>
Assists with positioning patients, application of orthopedic splints, casts and dressings.</li><li>
Assists patients with activities of daily living. Assists with positioning and ambulating patient.</li><li>
Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated.</li><li>
Assists the patient care team with transporting patients from helipad or ambulance bay, or to diagnostic studies and floor assignments.</li><li>
Provides and documents comfort and non-pharmacological pain management measures.</li><li>
Documents data on medical records and informs RN of activities performed, observations of patients and changes in patient status. Charts all observations, clinical data, and procedures performed in EMR.</li><li>
Assists with resuscitation / CPR and emergency airway procedures.</li><li>
Maintains use of appropriate medical equipment and supplies. Returns equipment to other units as needed.</li><li>
Decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies with approved cleaners.</li><li>
Cleans and stocks carts, rooms, and changes linen, as required.</li><li>
Consults with and keeps supervisor informed of unit activities, needs, and problems related to patient care.</li><li>
Knows and follows department, unit, hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality, safety, environmental and infection control standards.</li><li>
Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information.</li><li>
Helps to ensure smooth operation of the emergency department.</li><li>
Participates in process improvement initiatives.</li><li>
Serves as a role model and participates in educating and mentoring other members of the care team.</li><li>
Practices safe, efficient use of supplies.</li><li>
Attend department and organization meetings.</li><li>
Completes annual and as needed compliance training.</li><li>
Maintains a clean, safe, therapeutic and caring environment for patients, families, and other staff.</li><li>
Assumes responsibility for one&rsquo;s own professional development and continuing education.</li><li>
May perform monitor tech or unit secretary duties based on assigned facility or unit.</li><li>
Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements<ul><li>
Education - Completion of a nursing assistant, patient care tech, medical assistant, EMT, Paramedic, surgical tech, phlebotomy, military medical corpsman or nursing fundamentals course.</li><li>
Experience - No experience required. Experience as nursing assistant, patient care tech, medical assistant, EMT, Paramedic, Surgical Tech, Phlebotomist, Medical Corpsman or nursing student preferred.</li><li>
For facilities/units that require monitor tech responsibilities:<ul><li>
After hire, required attendance of formal arrhythmia training class and successful completion of the Prisma Health Arrhythmia exam with a minimum passing score within 2 attempts.</li><li>
Successful completion of the arrhythmia exam must be completed within 30 days of hire.</li><li>
Arrhythmia competencies must be maintained on an annual basis.</li></ul></li></ul> 
In Lieu Of<ul><li>
In lieu of school verification of required training, will accept current or former certification or licensure as proof of completed training at time of hire.</li><li>
In lieu of required education, will accept 1 year of related experience.</li></ul>

Job Summary:</h3>
The Cardiac Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and pacemaker implantations. This role involves operating imaging equipment, monitoring patients&rsquo; vital signs, maintaining a sterile environment, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedures.<h3 class="jobSectionHeader">
Key Responsibilities:</h3><ul><li>
Prepare the cardiac catheterization lab for procedures, including setting up sterile fields and ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and functional.</li><li>
Assist cardiologists during invasive procedures by handling and operating specialized imaging equipment (e.g., fluoroscopy, X-ray, intravascular ultrasound).</li><li>
Monitor and record patient vital signs and hemodynamic data during procedures.</li><li>
Administer contrast media under physician supervision and observe patient reactions.</li><li>
Ensure proper radiation safety protocols for patients and staff.</li><li>
Maintain accurate records of procedures and patient data in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements.</li><li>
Perform post-procedure patient care, including monitoring recovery and assisting with transport.</li><li>
Sterilize and maintain cath lab equipment and troubleshoot technical issues.</li><li>

Qualifications:</h3>
Education:<ul><li>
Associate's degree or completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program or Radiologic Technology program.</li></ul>
Licensure/Certification:<ul><li>
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification preferred or required depending on state/hospital.</li><li>
BLS and ACLS certification required.</li></ul>
Experience:<ul><li>
Minimum 1&ndash;2 years of experience in a cath lab, interventional radiology, or similar clinical setting preferred.</li><li>
