JOB TITLE: MIG Welder
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 
As a MIG Welder, you weld the stringer and hot passes for the long-seam and girth-seams of structural pipe and pressure vessel shells. You will use equipment and tools such as grinders, arc gougers, air chisels, and MIG welding machines. You must have extreme attention to detail, as the work is often delicate, and the welding tools used are dangerously hot. You must strictly follow safety precautions. MIG welding requires that you follow exact weld procedures and processes.
 
REQUIRED DUTIES: 
<ul>
<li>Operate semi-automatic welding equipment to weld stringer and hot passes in long-seams and girth-seams on structural pipe and pressure vessel shells</li>
<li>Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements</li>
<li>Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., ensure bevel prep cleanliness, verify temperature, verify consumables and parameters)</li>
<li>Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)</li>
<li>Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety</li>
<li>Clean and prep the bevel prior to welding.</li>
<li>Maintain work area and keep equipment clean and orderly</li>
<li>Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (welding hood, face-shield, gloves, etc.)</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned</li>

REQUIRED SKILLS:

<li>Proven experience as a welder in industry.</li>
<li>Experience using MIG welding equipment and procedures.</li>

Job Summary
Contribute to the manufacturing of Fire Protection pipe fabrication to NFPA standards with a semi-automatic welder. 
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities<ul><li>
Welds various fittings to different sizes of pipes and welding joints on a semi-automatic welder.</li><li>
Interprets application job sheets and various sizes of welding fittings.</li><li>
Analyzes all welds to ensure they are free of porosity and discontinuities.</li><li>
Ensures all welds are visibly stamped or identified with markings to designate that welds were performed by a certified welder.</li><li>
Sorts piping per job and sorts line numbers per fabrication job.</li><li>
Reviews the order ticket and determines the work to be performed meets the customer's specifications.</li><li>
Verifies the final product meets quality control standards..</li></ul>
Nature and Scope<ul><li>
Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.</li><li>
