As a <b>School Counselor</b>, you are primarily responsible for helping students in <b>Grades 1-6</b> to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally, through individual and group counseling and by collaborating with educators, parents, and other professionals to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment that strengthens connections between home and school.

<li>Providing individual and group counseling sessions to help resolve interpersonal or family problems that interfere with school performance, including crisis intervention consultation as needed.</li>

<li>Maintaining regular contact with students' parents/guardians to inform of student's progress, areas of difficulties and any changes or situations in home life that may affect school performance.</li>
<li>Developing and updating Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans (PBIP) as needed in adherence to company, school, state and federal regulations and procedures.</li>
<li>Attending and participating in IEP team meeting, facilitating at the discretion of the school district. Actively participating in other team meetings when necessary to address specific student and parent concerns.</li>
<li>Collaborating with education and social services professionals to develop appropriate agency services for students and their families.</li>
<li>Providing case management functions for students, which includes but is not limited to, coordination of parent meetings, emergency transportation requests, disciplinary actions such as detention/suspension, and coordination with outside therapists.</li>
<li>Collaborating with teachers, parents/guardians, district personnel, and services providers to find effective solutions to learning and behavior problems, always establishing and maintaining effective public relations and projecting a positive company image.</li>
<li>Ensuring the use of positive teaching methods by conducting monthly climate data through direct observation of classroom staff's implementation of IEP goals and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans.</li>
<li>Providing guidance, consultation, and assistance to Teachers in the development of classroom schedules, maintenance of student data systems and facilitation of student transition plans to assure appropriate curriculum, schedule, and services, based on each student's IEP and other applicable goals.</li>
<li>Assessing student progress through consistent review of classroom data collection and recording systems and providing applicable training and guidance to classroom staff accordingly to address student needs.</li>
<li>Functioning as a role model for effective teaching of students as well as for communication and problem solving with staff, reinforcing the School's emphasis on behavior analytic, empirical approach to education, the extensive use of data in decision making, and the use of positive reinforcement to achieve maximum performance when working with students and co-workers.</li>

<li>Master&rsquo;s degree or higher in educational counseling, therapy, social work or a closely related field of study.</li>
<li>Licensed currently or in the process of obtaining one or more of the following credentials:

<li>Well-versed in applied behavior analysis (ABA) including positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS), effective teaching strategies, classroom management systems, data-based decision making, and functional analysis/behavior intervention plans.</li>
<li>Proven success in developing and implementing effective treatment plans for students with diverse needs, preferably in an alternative, special education and/or behavioral health program setting.</li>
<li>Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals.</li>

<div><div>The Student Account Counselor is an integral member of the Bursar/Student Accounts Team supporting campus-wide collection efforts through proactive communication, outreach, and collaboration with students, their families, Bowdoin academic and administrative departments, and our external partners. Serving as the front line to the Bursar Office, the Student Account Counselor will serve as primary contact for students and families, delivering expert guidance including, but not limited to, tuition billing, payment plans, alternative loans, off campus study, health insurance, and financing options.<br>

Essential Functions:</div><ul>
<li>Provides exceptional customer service and advice to students and parents, explaining billing processes, payment options, and resolving account issues with accuracy, professionalism, and care. Assist students under financial stress by understanding their unique student needs and utilizing the available payment options.</li>
<li>Assists in the administration of payment services for students participating in Off Campus Study, and manages the Outside Scholarship tracking process.</li>
<li>Monitor student account details for non-payments, delayed payments, and other irregularities; communicate past due accounts to students to ensure that aged transactions are settled in a timely fashion.</li>
<li>Monitor all Quikpay One Time and Installment Plan Payments to ensure that all adjustments/returns are recorded accurately. Provide back-up to the Accounts Receivable Specialist/Cashier and assist in posting payments and cash handling.</li><br>

Under the leadership of the Trio Director, the Upward Bound Counselor provides academic, career, and educational counseling, as well as assistance with completing the college admissions and financial aid process. The counselor also provides motivational support and advocates for program participants. Other services the UB Counselor coordinates include academic instruction, mentoring, and tutoring.<br>

The Upward Bound Counselor is responsible for effectively implementing and achieving all goals, objectives, and standards associated with the Upward Bound Program as outlined by the US Department of Education.<br>

During the academic year, there are 26 to 28 sessions on Saturdays that run from 8:30 am until 2:30 pm. There is also an afterschool program that runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm as well as evening orientations and activities that are typically scheduled from 6 pm until 8:00 pm. A six-week summer program is conducted, with up to five of those weeks being residential. During the summer program, staff are expected to be available on campus, for overnight supervision of students for the duration of the residential program and should expect to work longer hours during the day. Saturday and off-hour work is required.<br>
