Person in this position will be responsible for general client supervision, milieu management and general program operation. The Counselor Tech Tier I position is not authorized to provide AOD Services to program participants unless registered or certified. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.

Will be nearing completion of a Masters degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Sociology, or an equivalent field at an accredited college or university. Recovering individuals must have a minimum of two years of continuous abstinence from addictive substances and disordered eating behaviors and must be active in support groups.

Service provision consists of assessing the immediate needs of persons walking into the Center and providing immediate linkage to community service providers as deemed applicable.
 
What You Will Do: 
<ul>
<li>Provides direct service as necessary.</li>
<li>Recognize potential crisis and respond to or intervene in crisis situations within the guidelines of Organizational Policy and Procedure using approved CPI techniques.</li>
<li>Demonstrates ability to recognize when a consumer requires medical, psychiatric, or other services and takes appropriate action.</li>
<li>Integrate the consumer into the community and ongoing assessment and management of crisis situations using all appropriate resources.</li>
<li>Attend and participate in internal and external committees, task forces, treatment team meetings, planning and work groups and meetings as required and requested.</li>
<li>Responds to all internal and external customers.</li>
</ul>
Minimum Qualifications: 
<ul>
<li>Master’s Degree in Human Services in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, counseling, education) and 1 year of mental health direct care experience OR</li>
<li>A bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, counseling, education) and 3 years of mental health direct care experience.</li>
<li>Valid Driver’s License</li>
<li>Ability to drive an organization vehicle</li>
<li>Pre-Employment Drug Screen</li>
<li>Pre-Employment Physical/TB</li>
<li>Act 33/34/73 clearances</li>
