Maintains knowledge of fellows&rsquo; and physicians&rsquo; schedules and special needs, and uses information to avoid scheduling conflicts.</li><li>
Maintains familiarity with referring physicians and their staff and uses the information to provide superior customer service to patients and physicians.</li><li>
Understands conflict scheduling, and takes the necessary steps to avoid errors.</li><li>
Provides accurate scheduling information for both internal and external customers.</li></ul>

Essential Functions

May post and process surgical charges, including the utilization of materials, supplies and implantable devices (and related regulatory information) into the designated computer system as necessary to remain within hospital guidelines and performs journaling by entering/transcribing data as needed.</li>
<li>Registers patients, gathers demographic, medical and financial information critical to overall patient care and reimbursement. Determines insurance coverage and obtains prior approval for preoperative testing to comply with payor contract requirements avoiding non-compliant penalties to patient, hospital and physicians. Contacts appropriate surgical patients to schedule preoperative classes, education, and testing appointments (if applicable). Processes pre-registration accounts 24 &ndash; 48 hours prior to patient&rsquo;s admission and initiates patient&rsquo;s medical record. Distributes registration documents to appropriate staff/department. Obtains signatures for patient medical authorization and financial responsibility.</li>
<li>Verifies material resources, instruments, and equipment are available to provide optimal physician and patient care. Provides coordination and information to all disciplines and departments to ensure efficient and effective workflow. Coordinates surgery and procedures schedule with appropriate department/anesthesia office according to departmental guidelines. Runs daily reports to meet the defined needs of the management team, such as charge audit and charge capture reports, etc. Performs other duties as assigned.</li>

We have multiple locations, so travel between office locations will be expected on occasion.Responsibilities include but are not limited to<ul><li>Greet and welcome Patients</li><li>Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls</li><li>Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable.</li><li>Work with referral offices to ensure continuity of patient care</li><li>Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, transcribing and faxing</li><li>Use scheduling guidelines to ensure daily goals are met</li><li>Verify insurance</li><li>Present treatment plans and finance options</li><li>Referral letters: consult and surgery</li><li>Check out patients</li><li>Prepare insurance claims daily</li><li>Close out End of Day</li><li>Work referrals, cancellations and unscheduled treatment reports</li></ul>Skills<ul><li>Proven work experience as a Dental Receptionist, Dental Treatment Coordinator or Insurance Specialist is not required but is requested.</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Suite</li><li>Experience with office equipment (fax machines and printers)</li><li>Professional attitude and appearance (Dress Code is enforced)</li><li>Written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Encourage teamwork atmosphere throughout the office daily</li><li>Positive Customer service attitude</li><li>Excellent organizational skills</li><li>Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks</li></ul>Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to work independently and cooperatively, set priorities and complete tasks: must be well organized and able to maintain files. Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information. Knowledge of rules, regulations and laws applicable to a medical practice. Must be detail oriented and able to meet deadlines. Flexibility to manage changing priorities. Ability to work independently. Excellent verbal and written skills. Proficient with computers and office software products.
