Job Summary and Qualifications</h5> 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Under the general direction of the Clinical Director OR and/or Clinical Nurse Manager and in accordance with standards of care and practice established by the Nursing Organization, the specific department; the rules, regulations and/or standards established by the State Board of Nursing, the Joint Commission, Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and appropriate specialty organizations relevant to the patient population under care, the incumbent performs the following functions:<ul><li>

Clamps and ties vessels to control bleeding during surgical entry.</li></ul><ul><li> 
Keeps the operative site dry.</li></ul><ul><li> 
Affords the surgeon the best possible exposure of the anatomy incident to the operation.</li></ul><ul><li> 
Assists the surgeon in identifying any structure which should not be ligated and keeps these structures from the moves of the surgeon.</li></ul><ul><li> 
Assists in closure of the incision including tying off bleeders, applying sutures and wound dressing and performs any and all tasks required of him/her by the surgeon incident to the particular procedure.</li></ul><ul><li> 
Practices correct operating room etiquette.</li></ul><ul><li>
