<div>What You Will Do
Southern Cross is hiring for a full-time Gas Leak Survey Technician to inspect gas lines and pipes to determine the origin and severity of a gas leak. As a Gas Leak Survey Technician, you will be trained to detect, locate, and evaluate gas leaks and report leaks to the local gas company. In this position you will drive a company vehicle. However, It may be required to have a reliable personal vehicle during training (typically 4-5 weeks) for daily work use.
Training is typically 4-5 weeks (paid), learning how to accurately detect and classify natural gas leaks, walking 5 or more miles per day, working outdoors in all weather conditions and environments i.e.: in and around vehicular traffic, residential and commercial environments, rural environments including: tall grass, uneven walking areas, fields, city sidewalks, alley ways and at times encountering dogs and wildlife.
Responsibilities &amp; Duties<ul><li>
Must be flexible to travel up to 75% of the time including occasional weekends may be required.</li><li>
Ability to fly/drive anywhere in the U.S.</li><li>
Mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot technology as needed.</li><li>
Ability to drive-in all-weather conditions.</li><li>
Adhere to all safety and quality policies and procedures.</li><li>
Must be able to learn training material in classroom format and/or online courses and be able to pass all qualification tests for this role.</li></ul>

Bending, crouching, kneeling, and walking several miles per day</li><li>
Carry a minimum of 20 lbs. of equipment</li><li>

What You Will Earn<ul><li>
Starting pay is $20.25 per hour to start with an increase of .50 cents at 60 and 180 days.</li></ul>

Job Duties<ul><li>Under direct supervision, conducts surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and human-made structures on the earth's surface, underground, and underwater, using electronic distance-measuring equipment and other surveying instruments.</li><li>Operates and manages land-information computer systems, performs tasks such as storing data, making inquiries, and producing plots and reports.</li><li>Reviews information from survey teams regarding measurement of distances, directions, angles between points and elevation of points, lines, and contours on, above, and below the earth&rsquo;s surface.</li><li>Researches legal records, looks for evidence of previous boundaries, and analyzes the data to determine the location of boundary lines.</li><li>Records the results of surveys, verifies the accuracy of data, and prepares plots, maps, and reports.</li><li>An experienced professional with general understanding of area of specialization.</li><li>Normally receives instruction on routine work.</li></ul>

Position Overview</h2>
This position is accountable for researching, collecting, analyzing, and maintaining data files for the Surveys Unit. Additionally, this position provides computer computations and uses the electronic surveying equipment to electronically record, resolve, and transmit field survey data as well as analyze, edit, and organize survey information for use by district personnel in the preparation of highway plans and land acquisition plats for the construction of highway facility improvements.<div><div><div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">
