Works on a survey crew with the crew chief on multiple projects to setup and operate surveying instruments, and compile notes, make sketches and enter data into computers.
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Sets up and operates surveying equipment such as Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels, Data Collectors and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).</li><li>
Assists in taking field notes, collection of field survey data and performs computations.</li><li>
Reads and interprets construction plans and drawings.</li><li>
Maintains, cleans and organizes survey vehicle and equipment.</li><li>
Sets stakes for a variety of commercial and industrial projects.</li><li>
Carries equipment and tools for long distances.</li><li>
Controls traffic when working in or near roadways.</li><li>
Clears brush and small trees.</li><li>
Adheres to safety protocols and procedures outlined by PEA Group.</li><li>

Qualifications:

Formal Education, Licenses and Certifications<ul><li>

Physical Demands

Availability
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., overtime and weekends as required. 
Travel
As a part of performing this position&rsquo;s duties, travel will be required to respective job sites in the Southeast Michigan Area and throughout the United States.</div>

Your Role</div><div>
As a Project Layout Technician &ndash; Survey, you&rsquo;ll play a critical role in delivering high-quality construction projects. You&rsquo;ll collaborate with experienced professionals, leverage cutting-edge GPS and surveying technology, and ensure projects are executed safely and accurately, every time.</div><ul><li>
Champion a safe work environment by consistently following all safety policies, procedures, and best practices.</li><li>
Operate, adjust, and maintain advanced GPS equipment, rovers, and related instruments for precise level setting and grade adjustments.</li><li>
Calculate and document cross sections of completed work for project assessment and payment review.</li><li>
Interpret and implement construction plans to support project preparation and execution.</li><li>
Assist with traffic control set-up, including moving and dismantling signs, barricades, and cones.</li><li>
Support field activities such as driving stakes, clearing brush, and handling materials and tools.</li><li>

Reading and understanding the package contract documents, detailed drawings, specifications, and health and safety measures, together with any associated updates.</li><li>Perform survey work under the direction and guidance of the Resident Engineer.</li><li>Develops new data from photogrammetric records.
