<div>The Iowa Department of Revenue&rsquo;s Alcohol &amp; Tax Operations Division is currently seeking a Revenue Service Specialist 2 to join their Taxpayer Services team.
The Operations Division functions as the central hub for both alcohol and tax-related processes and procedures. This division is responsible for administering the transportation and distribution of wholesale alcoholic liquor to more than 2,000 privately-owned retailers across Iowa, ensuring they are delivered on time and in good condition. Additionally, this division manages tax documents, payments and mail, as well as offering invaluable assistance to taxpayers for filing requirements and procedures.
In this position you will be responsible for:<ul><li>
Assist and advise taxpayers in meeting their Iowa tax obligations. This assistance is mid-level, technical, and covers a moderate range of detailed tax information, as well as, many elements of a wider range of tax types.</li><li>
Interview taxpayers to determine their tax situation.</li><li>
Determine the level of technical or system assistance needed and take appropriate steps to resolve issues such as login errors, password resets, and relaying refund/billing amounts, and general tax information.</li><li>
Consult with taxpayers in the preparation of tax returns by answering simple inquiries and escalating more complex inquiries to a Revenue Service Specialist 3, or to the appropriate Department of Revenue contact.</li><li>
Provide support to the front desk and walk-in customers.</li></ul>
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following:<ul><li>
Current Taxpayer Services experience.</li><li>
Principles and processes for providing customer service and the ability to identify issues and explain various courses of action for resolution.</li><li>

The Compliance Division oversees all facets of tax processing, issuances of business permits, and alcohol regulation throughout the state. From the receipt of individual and business tax returns and payments, audits and collections, to routine compliance inspections and regulatory verification of alcohol-licensed establishments, this division is tasked with upholding, enforcing and educating taxpayers and licensees on Iowa&rsquo;s laws and regulations.</div>

 In This Role, Your Goals Will Be

 Supervising a team of two individuals to ensure timely and accurate filing of Provincial Sales Tax Returns on monthly basis. This task also includes reconciliation of relevant Sales Tax Input, Output and Payables Reconciliation.

 Participate in preparing the information on Annual Income Tax Return in a timely manner to ensure the return is filed on a timely basis.

 Preparation of quarterly advance income tax liability and further discuss the same with the HOD for any corrections/changes.

 Ensure all the relevant ledgers pertaining to taxation are reconciled and resolving the reconciling items. This would also involve but not limited to preparation of revenue to return reconciliation/debtors to revenue reconciliations and bank credits to revenue reconciliations.

 Liaison with tax consultants to ensure compliance of notices received from tax authorities on a timely basis. This would also involve preparation of reconciliations/information sought by the tax departments.
 </li>
 <li>
 Coordinating with clients and vendors in complex business transaction and advising for an amicable solution to resolve dead locks. This may also involve advising on issues raised due to difference in interpretation of law.
 </li>
 <li>
 Do escalations with the HOD on time (as needed), recommend a proper resolution of such incident/escalations.
 </li>
 <li>
 Supervising the recovery of Sales Tax and Income Tax Challans and submitting the same to vendors. This would also involve reconciliation of relevant ledgers.

 Liaison with the business development team to ensure smooth onboarding of new clients and advising on changes in agreements where necessary.

 Coordinating and suggesting solutions to other team members within finance to resolve queries/deadlocks.
