It is our commitment as a College to ensure that we invest the resources necessary to positively impact teaching and student success. Consistent with this commitment all new faculty are required to successfully complete the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Instructor Preparation Academy. The Academy is a structured, practical, course-based cohort learning experience during first three years of employment. Courses include teaching and learning strategies, guidance and counseling, curriculum development, assessment, diversity, and more. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
</b></p></div><div><ul><li><p>Develop and continually revise curriculum required development and routine revision of curriculum that includes adaptation of curriculum to college delivery standards, strategic directions, employer/advisory feedback, and industry/regulatory standards. This also includes but is not limited to Open Educational Resources (OER), textbook change, assessment plan, credit for prior learning assessment tools, and employability skills.</p></li><li><p>
Utilize engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside of the classroom.</p></li><li><p>
Create learning experiences which integrate multiple alternative or emerging delivery methodologies and instructional technologies to maximize student success, including, but not limited to, hybrid, face-to-face, video conferencing, self-paced, and on-line course delivery.</p></li><li><p>
Provide immediate, routine, and consistent feedback to students to assist them in improving performance in technical and core ability competencies.</p></li><li><p>
Create a learning environment that integrates best practices for student success including authentic service learning, student club events, and engagement in profession specific activities.</p></li><li><p>
Develop, support, participate and collaborate with other departments on student recruitment, program marketing, and referral of students as needed for student success strategies including tutoring, counseling, advising, etc.</p></li><li><p>
Use data to measure quality outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and to design improvement strategies based on the evidence.</p></li><li><p>
Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery.</p></li><li><p>
Engage with business and industry through engagement and participation in advisory committees, including the recruitment of new members, planning of meetings, participation in community groups, and business visits.</p></li><li><p>
Participate in community and college-sponsored events to promote the college&rsquo;s programs and enhance community relationships.</p></li><li><p>
Engage in division, department and team meetings and requirements including the development and completion of the college&rsquo;s strategic planning through team action plans and budget requests</p></li><li><p>
Maintain proficient knowledge and skill in emerging trends and current occupational practices by networking with regional industry leaders and participating in continuing education and professional development.</p></li><li><p>
Assist in the development of adjunct faculty through communication, sharing of resources, coaching and mentoring.</p></li><li><p>
Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements, faculty progression structure requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation.</p></li></ul></div><p></p><div><p><b>
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:</b></p></div><ul><li><p>
May be responsible for assisting with student clinical experience including but not limited to, student placement, site recruitment, site communication, maintenance of records, site visits, and evaluation of site compliance with program policies.</p></li></ul><p></p><div><p><b>
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE</b></p></div><ul><li><p>
Minimum of a Bachelor&rsquo;s Degree or equivalent, with at least two years work experience in the health information technology field or the equivalent education and work experience for the position.</p></li><li><p>
Must be certified as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).</p></li><li><p>
Knowledge of the operational issues of health care organizations, health care reform, regulatory requirements, reimbursement methodologies, claims and records handling, and coding.</p></li><li><p>
Employment is conditional on compliance with state statute regarding the completion of a Caregiver Background Check and Drug Test and the results acceptable to the clinical agencies accessed in the curriculum.</p></li></ul><p></p><div><p><b>

 Health Technology students learn health care safety, nutrition, characteristics of health care teams, National Health Care Standards, categories of health care facilities, legal/ethical/moral concerns in health care, and effective communication including medical terminology. The program provides broad-based exposure to a variety of health careers. In grade 11 students are eligible to become certified nursing assistants.

   Health Technology instructors are expected to be capable of teaching all aspects of the Health Technology curriculum.
  </li>
  <li>
   The Health Technology program is a mixture of theoretical and hands-on training. The theoretical training will require instructors to plan and deliver information, and then assess the student&rsquo;s competency. This will be done in a variety of methods; some will include the use of educational technology.
  </li>
  <li>
   Instructors need the basic computer skills to access online curriculum/resources and present lessons to students.
  </li>
  <li>
   The hands-on portion of the Health Technology curriculum will require instructors to possess the technical skill and physical ability to complete various healthcare tasks.
  </li>
  <li>
   Standing and moving around can be expected for a majority of each shift. Along with standing and moving, many tasks will require the ability to bend at the waist, squat and kneel, as well as work with and manipulate items above the head. Lifting and transporting heavier items can also be expected.
  </li>

   The instructor is also responsible for obtaining and retaining a Connecticut CDL with proper endorsements, to transport students.
  </li>

   Participating in building and district level professional development and collaboration. This will include working with various committees and departments to facilitate educating students.
