Job Description</div><div>
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:</div><ul><li>
Writes, produces, and presents news stories and segments for WGCU&rsquo;s nightly broadcast.</li><li>
Collaborates with the news team to plan program topics and develop content for the weekly television newscast, including curating news from internal and external sources.</li><li>
Researches topics, studies background information, and conducts interviews to prepare for programs and longer-form segments.</li><li>
Writes scripts, segues, and supporting material; gathers and rewrites information to deliver clear, accurate, and compelling news stories.</li><li>
Works with editors to develop video packages for broadcast.</li><li>
Coordinates with the news team to schedule guests and manage logistics for program taping.</li><li>
Ensures editorial integrity of the production process and provides guidance on content selection and story execution.</li><li>
Maintains a professional on-camera presence while delivering news calmly, clearly, and in a timely manner.</li><li>
Identifies content for distribution across digital and broadcast platforms and develops multi-platform treatments for stories.</li><li>
Assists with program distribution both online and off-air.</li><li>
Works with the Executive Producer of Content to support production needs, address challenges, and implement solutions.</li><li>
Represents WGCU Public Broadcasting at community events and public appearances.</li></ul><div></div><div>

Required Qualifications:</div><ul><li>
This position requires either ten years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.</li><li>
Professional full time experience in television broadcasting.</li><li>
Experience with producing, scripting, and editing long format documentaries.</li><li>
Superior on-air voice quality and network quality hosting.</li><li>
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.</li></ul><div></div><div>
Preferred Qualifications:</div><ul><li>
Master's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.</li><li>
