Reports to and evaluated by: Superintendent or his/her designee
 
 
<ul><li>If the Supervisor of Transportation and Mechanic roles are filled by the same individual, then that individual will report to and be evaluated by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
</li></ul></div>Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
<ul><li>Supervises, manages, and evaluates bus drivers, bus aides, substitutes, mechanics, trainers, inspectors and any other persons approved to work in the transportation department in accordance with district policy and applicable law
</li><li>Ability to complete routine reports
</li><li>Maintains records on all transportation personnel which consist of personnel training records, evaluations, complaints, copy of driver licenses, physicals, drug and alcohol records, and motor vehicle records, etc.
</li><li>Maintains records for preparation of state and local reports as prescribed by law and district policy
</li><li>Ensures all drivers have appropriate commercial driver license and attend necessary and/or required training
</li><li>Organizes and implements a bus driver training program covering all required federal, state and local laws
</li><li>Assists in the development of appropriate policies and procedures related to school transportation consistent with state law, federal law and ALSDE regulations
</li><li>Ensures that school bus safety inspections and drills are conducted regularly and documented in accordance with state and federal law and ALSDE regulations.
</li><li>Assesses incidents and complaints (e.g. other administrators, public agencies, parents, transportation regulation agencies, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of resolving or recommending a resolution to the situation
</li><li>Reports all bus accidents in accordance with law and district policy
</li><li>Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g. other administrators, public agencies, parents, transportation regulation agencies, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining services and programs (e.g. routing software and Trip Planner software)
</li><li>Requests and monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities, working collaboratively with the Superintendent and CSFO, for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed
</li><li>Collaborates with district payroll clerk/supervisor on time, attendance, and other payroll related tasks in the transportation department
</li><li>Facilitates and/or participates in meetings, conferences, and workshops for the purposes of identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting other staff, and serving as a District representative
</li><li>Interprets transportation procedures and regulations to general public and school staff.
</li><li>Proposes recommendations that may improve transportation service and efficiency such as, rules, regulation for drivers, aides and students, and facility improvement
</li><li>Ensures that the district bus fleet remains clean, safe, and in proper working condition
</li><li>Maintains and up-to-date inventory of supplies and equipment in the transportation department
</li><li>Possess computer skills relevant to the position
</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned 
</li></ul> 
Qualifications: (Qualifications must be met within six months of employment)
<ul><li>Must hold a valid Class A or B CDL with a passenger endorsement and be insurable for vehicle operation or obtain license and endorsement within six months of employment.
</li><li>Certified in accordance with Alabama State Board of Education requirements.
</li><li>Must be willing to submit to drug testing prior to employment and be willing to enter into a random drug and alcohol testing program thereafter.
</li><li>Must pass a school bus safety test administered by state transportation personnel within six months of employment. Thereafter, must be able to demonstrate to the state inspector, on a yearly basis, the ability to maintain the skill as well as the mental and physical capabilities to perform all tasks necessary to assure the safe maintenance of school buses.
</li><li>For those holding a professional educator certificate - Minimum: Master&rsquo;s Degree in Leadership or School Administration
</li><li>For those not holding a professional educator certificate - Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and verifiable job experiences in transportation and leadership

<ul><li>240 or 260 day assignment, 8 &frac12; hours per day (salary will be calculated as shown on the Support Employee Salary Schedule for this position.

<div>POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides support to the Transportation Manager/Director in supervising the activities related to delivery and backhauls. This includes, training and supervising transportation department associates, compliance with government regulations and promoting safety and security of the transportation department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>
Supervises the daily work and safety of Transportation Associates, including adherence to standard operating procedures, Food Safety Standards and preferred work methods, adherence to planned routes, and providing safe and efficient customer service.</li><li>
Ensures Transportation Associates&rsquo; comply with local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, OSHA, etc.) and ensures that electronic logs are kept current and accurate.
</li><li>Supervises labor hours and consumable supplies within budget; prepares work schedules including extra work days and shifts as needed.</li><li>
Assists with the training of new associates, including cross training of existing associates.</li><li>
Supervises the proper selection and utilization of Company assets in support of the Delivery department; coordinates required repairs with proper departments as necessary.</li><li>
Reviews delivery functions and productivity reporting; suggests efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assists with implementation of delivery changes.</li><li>
Interprets, trains and consistently enforces company policies, protocols and procedures including but not limited to food safety, DOT, record keeping, etc.</li><li>
Communicates with Warehouse and Customer Service teams to collaboratively resolve any customer or delivery opportunities or issues; visits customer locations and meets with customers to address issues and assess delivery difficulty.</li><li>
Maintains positive associate relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings; keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitors associate morale and submits and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement.</li><li>
Works with Safety Manager to aid in training, conducting associate observations, up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes, and routine safety inspections; makes recommendations for corrective action and/or behavior modification where required.</li><li>
Performs management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations.</li><li>
Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works outside of the normal schedule as required to meet workload demands. Performs the duties of associates supervised and other related duties as needed (and as qualified).</li></ul>
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>
High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent degree; and two to four years transportation experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.</li><li>
Two or Four year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or similar major preferred.
</li></ul>CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>
Class A Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License is preferred but not required.</li><li>
Certificate of DOT regulations training is preferred.</li></ul>
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:<ul><li>
Knowledge of: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; DOT rules and regulations; preferred work methods and standard operating procedures; spreadsheet software and word processing software.</li><li>

Transportation Supervisor
The purpose of this position is to ensure the safe, cost effective, and compliant transportation of all Hydrite products via Hydrite's private fleet. This position is part of the Hydrite Transportation Team.

Primary responsibilities include:
<ul>
<li>Supports the Transportation Manager in the supervision of drivers and equipment</li>
<li>Supports the Transportation Manager in ensuring internal fleet maintains compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA regulations, and Hydrite SOP's and internal processes.</li>
<li>Partners with operations management teams, Central Planning, and Customer Experience to ensure freight is delivered timely to our internal and external customers</li>
<li>Reviews driver utilization, equipment utilization, and repair activity reports (including driver VCR's) daily to ensure DOT compliance, fleet efficiency, and proper cost management.</li>
<li>Review Samsara system daily. Monitor safety videos and HOS to ensure safe vehicle operation and DOT compliance. Escalate issues to Transportation Manager as needed.</li>
<li>Support and answer operational/procedural questions from drivers</li>
<li>Coach drivers on safety and operational best practices to drive ownership of HCC safety values, mission and vision.</li>
<li>Perform regular SBV's (Pre/Post trip observations and driver ride-alongs) to confirm adherence to DOT regulations and Hydrite SOP's</li>
<li>Assist Transportation Manager in coordinating equipment maintenance</li>
<li>Drive retention initiatives through good hiring practices, employee engagement, and other company retention programs.</li>
<li>Ensures the safe operation of the site's private fleet.</li>
<li>Provides quality service to all internal and external Hydrite customers.</li>
<li>Drive safety messages to driver team (Weekly Toolbox Talks, Safety Blitz reports, etc)</li>
<li>Attend and contribute to the Quarterly Safety Meeting presentation</li>
<li>Must be available via phone during off-hours (nights, weekends). Most calls from drivers for call-off's, equipment or load issues, etc.</li>

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

<li>Candidates should have strong knowledge of dispatch operations, transportation management, and logistics solutions with a broad knowledge in DOT rules and regulations.</li>
<li>Must have at least 1 year supervisory experience in a trucking or warehouse environment; bulk tank truck experience preferred.</li>
<li>Experience working with a TMS and dispatching system highly preferred; experience with E2Open and Samsara systems preferred but not required.</li>
<li>Must have strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, and possess the ability to read, write, and speak English.</li>
<li>Associates degree is preferred.</li>
<li>Basic mechanical understanding of CMV's (tractors and chemical tankers) preferred.</li>
</ul>
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
<ul>
<li>Must be able to sit for up to four hours at a time.</li>
<li>Ability to sit up to 10 hours a day.</li>

 This class is accountable for assisting in the supervision of employees engaged in the various aspects of the systematic transportation of goods and/or people.
