What you'll do as a Transportation Manager:

Position Summary: This exempt position oversees all transportation needs and activities of the School, including oversight of the School&rsquo;s 14 vehicle fleet and supervision of all the School bus drivers. The Transportation Manager reports to the Director of Finance and Operations.
Essential Functions:
<ul><li>Supervise all School drivers and maintain high level of customer service. Monitor driver performance by completing yearly evaluations for all drivers. Periodically evaluate and identify drivers for re-training as necessary. Manage traffic infractions and apply policies. All drivers are hourly employees.</li><li>
Identify and execute transportation strategy in anticipation of the School's evolving transportation needs, including environmental concerns.</li><li>
Manage weekly schedule to ensure adequate driving coverage for school needs; distribute schedule to Athletic Director, drivers, and other appropriate parties, providing updates as needed. Identify need for supplemental vehicles during peak activity seasons; schedule charter bus services as needed.</li><li>
The Transportation Manager may occasionally provide emergency driving coverage when necessary; however, the primary duty of the role is managerial oversight of the transportation program.</li><li>
Confirm and schedule faculty transportation requests; maintain communication with faculty regarding field trip changes and procedures; ensure appropriate student transportation to and from scheduled activities as needed.
</li><li>Manages the School&rsquo;s fleet of 14 vehicles (twelve school buses and two vans), including: a) research and purchase recommendations for new vehicles; b) safe and legal parking arrangements for current vehicles; c) maintenance scheduling and documentation; d) DOT vehicle certifications; and e) fueling, cleaning, and repair scheduling of vehicles.</li><li>
Train and orient new drivers on driving procedures, including communicating safety issues, Federal DOT regulations, and the School's policies regarding safe vehicle operation.
</li></ul><ul><li>Manage transportation needs for Summer Camp Program including forecasting staffing and bus needs, hiring driving staff, ensuring driving coverage.
</li><li>Create and administer budget and yearly operating expenses for the Transportation Department.</li><li>
Manage driver hiring process, including identifying openings and interviewing/selecting final candidates.</li><li>
Act as the School Administrator responsible for all software platforms employed by the School to manage all transportation activities including BusHive, Samsara, Edulog, Embark, Concentra and Clearing House.</li></ul>

Compensation:
The salary range is $80,200-$90,000, based on education and years of experience. Job Summary:
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the direct driver management and supervision of midsize driver count, ensuring safe and timely service movement of freight, load assignment, and providing best-in-class customer service. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and responsible for all driver compliance and company regulations while working with internal and external contacts to ensure the accurate planning, routing, monitoring, and delivery of freight and loads. The transportation manager must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility in scheduling to ensure operational success. This includes, but is not limited to, day, night, and weekend shifts and ensuring that coverage is accounted for.

Key Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers and safety to minimize turnover and maximize ongoing productivity
</li><li>Fill in for absent or unavailable personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and achieving profitability
</li><li>Utilize personnel management including training and orientation of drivers and/or employees including the training and assistance with internal and third-party (customer) systems
</li><li>Conduct analysis of fleet operations and profitability and make recommendations for continuous improvement, determine and measure key performance indicators, and create, maintain, and present customer-specific reporting and financial analysis through face-to-face and/or virtual interactions at customer locations
</li><li>Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and/or assignment of drivers to balance equipment in market
</li><li>Perform administrative duties such as payroll, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing and documenting, resolving pay issues, invoicing, and/or creating operational or financial reports
</li><li>Manage yard including checking/inspecting equipment, replacing parts (like mud flaps), completing repairs, etc., and coordinate with maintenance to ensure all regular preventative maintenance services are scheduled on time and all safety-related mechanical issues are fixed for account equipment (as required)
</li><li>Work with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues, routing and/or planning, mechanical problems, accessorial pay-related issues, etc. as they occur throughout the day and, where necessary, when on-call
</li><li>Maintain the Company's safety culture to include daily driver safety messages, monthly driver safety briefings, quarterly driver training, annual reviews, and enforce company policies to ensure DOT compliance and company safety requirements are being met
</li><li>Assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements, including managing exceptions on that freight and driver ETA adjustments based on pick-up and delivery schedules, and other environmental factors on the road
</li></ul>Qualifications:

<ul><li>High School Diploma/GED and 2-3 years of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, and/or equivalent military experience AND the ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
