JOB OBJECTIVE: Supervises district-wide transportation services. NOTE: Driving duties may be assigned.

 Manages the effective delivery/advancement of pupil transportation services.

<li>Uses performance-based safety standards to evaluate the need to replace/upgrade equipment.</li>
<li>Manages ongoing vehicle maintenance. Implements procedures to deal with emergency repairs. Inspects completed repairs. Maintains repair logs. Monitors contractors/vendors performance.</li>
<li>Coordinates annual state patrol bus inspections.</li>
<li>Monitors bus driver training requirements. Promotes defensive driving. Verifies drivers are qualified/correctly licensed. Promotes bus safety. Coordinates evacuation drills.</li>
<li>Anticipates health/safety inspections. Teaches staff how to operate fire/safety equipment.</li>
<li>Investigates/prepares accident reports. Documents all injuries that require treatment.</li>
<li>Determines the most appropriate transportation method for each student.</li>
<li>Prepares bus routes. Assigns drivers. Prepares transportation rosters (e.g., bus identification, student names, grade levels, building assignment, pick-up/drop off points, time schedules, etc.).</li>
<li>Manages the timely distribution of routing information to administrators, students/parents, etc.</li>
<li>Maintains up-to-date student information on each bus.</li>
<li>Works with the staff to address the needs of students with disabilities.</li>
<li>Monitors road and weather conditions. Recommends the need to delay or cancel services.</li> 
</ul><ul><li>Coordinates the non-routine use of buses (e.g., field trips, athletic contests, etc.).</li>
<li>Protects district property. Ensures that transportation facility is secured at the end of the day.</li>

Maintains radio contact with Operations Manager, meal planer and leads during operation</li><li>
Conducts regular checks of the kitchen to ensure no equipment was left behind after flights leave the kitchen</li><li>
Responsible for security and proper transportation of galleys and maintaining cleanliness of vehicles</li><li>
Responsible for safety, quality and compliance with customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.</li><li>
Ensures specifications, airline diagrams, and other standards are accurate according to the airline specifications.</li><li>
Ensures that all products are coded according to Gate Gourmet procedures.
</li><li>Works with maintenance staff to ensure preventive maintenance of machinery and fleet according to schedules, reports maintenance and repair issues in timely manner.</li><li>
Maintains Company policies and procedures as well as specification books for airline customers</li><li>
Maintains all financial goals related to material, productivity, overtime, and labor goals</li><li>
Prepares management reports (ex. attendance, HAACCP and labor) as required.</li><li>
Responsible for supervising drivers and driver assistants</li><li>
Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity and security with minimum labor and food costs</li><li>
Responsible for performance evaluation, coaching, counseling and preparing corrective action for employees and liaises appropriately with HR and other support functions.</li><li>
Manages workflow balancing - - the division of responsibilities amongst employees on each shift including assignment of responsibilities and workstations.</li><li>
Manages daily manpower planning including assignment of responsibilities and workstations.</li><li>
Determines when and whether to call employees in to cover staffing needs (ex. sick calls, vacation relief, medical leaves, volume changes, etc.)</li><li>
In conjunction with department leaders determines number of employees needed by shift</li><li>
Responsible for employee retention and monitors employee turnover.</li></ul> 
Education:<ul><li>
High School Diploma or GED required</li><li>
Associates degree or degree from a 4-year university or college preferred.</li></ul>
Work Experience:<ul><li>
Minimum 3 years' experience working as a delivery driver and/or in a customer service capacity required</li><li>
Minimum of 2-year supervisory experience working in a high volume, manufacturing, food production, restaurant or catering environment or equivalent experience in the related field is preferred</li><li>
Experience working in the airline industry is preferred</li></ul>

The Transportation Supervisor DOT will directly manage the daily delivery process in accordance with company policies and procedure to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of products to Ben E. The Transportation Supervisor DOT will report to the Transportation Manager. Duties for this position include:

<li>Collaborate with peer supervisors to manage daily routes and activities of transportation personnel</li>
<li>Manage all shuttle drivers and schedules for each shuttle site including vacation requests and call-ins.</li>
<li>Enforce transportation policies and procedures to maintain equipment performance and ensure compliance of BEK safety and transportation guidelines</li>
<li>Manage delivery operations to ensure complete customer satisfaction with internal and external customers</li>
<li>Perform nightly audits of dark drop delivery procedures to ensure safe delivery and cold chain policies.</li>
<li>Perform daily administrative tasks to ensure the timely reporting of work activities, personnel time, expenditures and verify the efficient shipping and delivery of products</li>
<li>Perform customer deliveries and shuttle runs if needed to ensure timely delivery of products to customers</li>
<li>Train new employees and guide current employees on routes, product delivery, completion of paperwork, and compliance with all safety requirements.</li>
<li>Perform employee evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed</li>
<li>Perform timely investigation and reporting of all accidents, injuries and incidents to appropriate personnel</li>
