Responsible for the oversight for all driver owner/operator activities, including pick-up and delivery, port interaction, governmental regulations, customer service, reporting, and continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
<ul><li>Perform active role in dispatching and tracking of port and store delivery and LTL drivers.</li>
<li>Works directly with warehouse operations managers to facilitate an efficient and profitable flow of product.</li>
<li>Overall responsibility for the efficient operation of the dispatch, customer service, brokerage and maintenance divisions of the transportation department.</li>
<li>Efficient, timely and effective utilization and maintenance of assigned equipment.</li>
<li>Maintain expected service outlined in customer service level agreements.</li>
<li>Minimize driver turnover.</li>
<li>Maximize revenue per truck, minimize deadhead and minimize turndowns.</li>

Communicate and collaborate with dispatch management to promptly report any maintenance issues or safety needs and ensure proper vehicle maintenance per DOT guidelines.</li></ul></li><li>
Regularly communicate with dispatch management for updates to delivery status, delays, or issues, and to receive instructions. Promptly report any traffic violations, road accidents, and vehicle breakdowns to management.</li><li>
Maintain accurate records of trips, including driver logs, mileage, delivery receipts/logs, inspection reports, customer signatures, and other relevant documentation.</li><li>
Some routes may require driving in snow, and chaining up, depending on the time of year and weather.</li><li>

Perform pre- and post-route inspections of assigned truck and document any safety issues on standard reports.</li><li>
Continuously monitor for safety and service-related issues, as well as containers of other equipment in need of repair, and report any issues to the Route Supervisor or Dispatch.</li><li>
All IWS employees are expected to be responsible and accountable for the safety for themselves, their colleagues, the trucks, and other equipment and property. Drivers must immediately notify Route Supervisor or Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.</li><li>
Communicate professionally with customers and Dispatchers at all times. This includes receiving complaints about schedules and quality of service. Our Drivers must make note of and report on any such complaints and respond in a courteous and respectful manner.</li><li>
Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings</li><li>
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards</li><li>

</h2><div><div><div><ul><li>Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.</li><li>
All Drivers must have a valid Class A or B CDL and a clean driving record.</li><li>
At least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL A or B, within the last 7 years. Experience as a Driver or Helper for a refuse company is highly preferred.</li><li>
Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and applicable traffic regulations.</li><li>
Must be able to speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records.</li><li>
Must be able to read and understand a map</li><li>
Must be able to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position.</li><li>
Must be willing and able to work required worked hours as allowed under DOT regulation and may include weekend, night, and/or holiday work.</li></ul>
Physical Requirements<ul><li>
The Driver position may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route.</li><li>
Must be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.</li><li>
