</h3>The Clinical Unit Coordinator provides coordination of direct and indirect patient care at the hospital wide level. She/he is responsible for shift or specific operations of the hospital for the provision of effective patient care. This includes patient flow, personnel management, quality improvement, direct and indirect patient care. She/he provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with minimal supervision. The Clinical Unit Coordinator incorporates a higher level of skill and knowledge to perform and role model direct and indirect patient care of the neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient through mentoring and advising on the assessment of health needs, development and implementation of the plan of care, and ability to evaluate outcomes. She/he consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, accountability, confidence, critical thinking, fairness, and flexibility. Supports the department Manager and Assistant Manager in accomplishing department goals and outcomes and sustaining a state of continual regulatory readiness. In addition, the Clinical Unit Coordinator is visible, present, and available to staff in providing mentoring, teaching, and support. Some of the major job functions include but are not limited to: Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Demonstrates attitude and communication in alignment with ASPIRE values Available for consultation to evaluate patient progress toward desired outcomes and assists in taking corrective action to promote effective patient care and in meeting Quality Indicators. Participates in MD rounds/Huddles as applicable. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Models and exemplifies the facilities core values. Assists the Nurse Manager with monitoring and improving patient and employee satisfaction scores. Facilitates Huddles as needed and holds staff accountable to topics presented. </h3>Education: Completion of a nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
Experience: 2 years of experience in acute care setting or specialized unit preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details.
Licensure: Registered Nurse with a current licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. POSITION SUMMARY 
This position is responsible for a variety of administrative support functions and customer service for an assigned patient care area which promote an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients. The position facilitates communication between physicians, nurses and physicians, calls in Consults and acts as a liaison with all other internal departments and external contacts. 
 
CORE FUNCTIONS 
1. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution. 
 
2. Processes patient admissions, records bed assignments in system, makes face sheets and prints patient labels upon admission. Orders outside records from other facilities and Physician&rsquo;s offices. 
 
3. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient&rsquo;s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. May be responsible for QC/validations. 
 
4. Enters pending discharges into the system. Coordinates patient appointments for procedures and treatments that may be required prior to timely discharge. Processes patient discharges. 
 
5. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. 
 
6. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order. 
 
7. This position works under local supervision and has responsibility for assigned unit only. Incumbents work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with a strong focus on customer service. Interacts with other health unit secretaries and other staff at all levels throughout the facility. Customers are patients, families, physicians, unit staff, case managers, patient service staff and medical records staff. Interacts with a wide variety of external customers. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 
 
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. 
 
Requires skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior experience in customer service. Must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy is required. The position requires knowledge of commonly used office software and keyboarding skills. 
 
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral or BUMG, BUMCT in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) provides organizational, receptionist, and clerical support to patient care units and the health care team. Pay Range:
$20.50 &ndash; $27.59

JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Care Technician - Health Unit Coordinator performs various clerical and patient care duties for the department under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE<ul><li>
Collects and records patient data, reporting information and observations to nursing team members in a timely fashion. Obtains and records patient vital signs, height, weight, nutritional intake and output and performs blood glucose monitoring via finger-stick blood samples, test strips and portable meters. Performs routine urinary catheter care. Collects and transports specimens, including, but not limited to, urine, stool and sputum, as requested.</li><li>
Helps patients with activities of daily living (i.e., personal hygiene, dressing, eating, maintaining continence and turning/transferring/ambulation) and changing linen, as appropriate to setting. Answers and responds to patient call lights and requests in a timely way. May be assigned as a sitter for patients needing constant observation.</li><li>
Completes and maintains unit and patient records, files, forms and documents related to work area management and patient care to include admissions, surgeries, transfers, discharges, medical records and physician call list. Maintains clean and organized work area of records, files, forms, and reference documents. Checks, updates and maintains facility boards, pneumatic tube system and telemetry box reconciliation according to departmental policy, procedures and/or guidelines.</li><li>
Prepares reports, purchase orders, projects, memos and letters using computer programs.</li><li>
Greets visitors and helps them as needed. Answers telephones and contacts professional and non-professional nursing team and medical staff using pagers, beepers and cell phones. Tracks call light response time for the unit. Assigns phone and location devices to appropriate staff.</li><li>
Perform work area help duties as directed by the nurse or physician. Runs errands, picks up supplies and transports patients.</li><li>
Maintains inventory, requisitions and stocks work area supplies and equipment.</li><li>
May help with non-medical patient care duties, such as, making coffee, transporting patients, and distributing ice, water and blankets.</li><li>
Cleans patient bedside units and nursing areas not included in general housekeeping, and cleans equipment properly and distributes based on patient needs.</li><li>
Attends in-services, unit meetings and conferences.</li></ul>
