Department/Division Overview

The Department of Anesthesiology is composed of 128 physicians, 103 CRNA/CAA&rsquo;s, 10 clinician scientists, 80 residents, 9 fellows, a large compliment of anesthesia technicians and 13 administrative support staff. Comprised of six academic divisions, Critical Care, Pain, Cardiothoracic, OB, Ambulatory and General Anesthesia, the Department provides comprehensive anesthesia services throughout the health system, including off-site and regional locations. The department is deeply invested in teaching and training, offering four ACGME-accredited fellowships in cardiothoracic anesthesiology, critical care anesthesiology, obstetric anesthesiology, pain medicine and regional anesthesiology as well as additional fellowships in neuroanesthesiology and Executive Leadership and Business in Anesthesiology. An additional ACGME accredited fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesiology is offered in partnership with Nationwide Children&rsquo;s Hospital.

Alfaisal University College of Medicine invites applications for a full-time Associate Professor of Epidemiology in the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology &amp; Public Health. This senior academic role will support the expansion of research programs, MPH and PhD tracks, and national collaborations aligned with Vision 2030 health transformation priorities.
We seek a scholar with a strong record of research excellence in epidemiologic methods, chronic disease epidemiology, lifestyle and behavioral epidemiology, digital health surveillance, infectious disease modeling, environmental/occupational epidemiology, or health services research. Candidates should demonstrate a robust track record of competitive grant funding, interdisciplinary collaborations, and leadership in graduate education.
The successful candidate will join a rapidly growing academic environment with active institutional partnerships across Saudi Arabia&mdash;including public health authorities, healthcare clusters, national registries, and digital health platforms. The role includes teaching, supervising thesis research, leading funded projects, mentoring junior faculty, and contributing to departmental and university development.
<h4 class="jobSectionHeader">Job Description</h4>
<ul><li>Teach epidemiology and public health courses at the undergraduate, MPH, and PhD levels.</li>
<li>Lead research projects and contribute to national and international collaborations.</li>
<li>Supervise MSc, MPH, and PhD theses, and mentor junior faculty and postdoctoral researchers.</li>
<li>Conduct independent, high-impact epidemiologic research aligned with institutional and national priorities.</li>
<li>Develop advanced methodologies for population health, disease surveillance, causal inference, and public health analytics.</li>
<li>Publish in high-impact journals and participate in grant writing and funded research initiatives.</li>
<li>Contribute to curriculum development, accreditation, and academic governance.</li>
<li>Support community engagement, professional training, and capacity-building initiatives.</li>
<li>Participate in departmental.</li>

</h4><ul><li>PhD in Epidemiology or a closely related field.</li>
<li>Minimum of 5&ndash;7 years of academic experience post-PhD, with evidence supporting appointment at the Associate Professor rank.</li>
<li>Strong publication record in Q1 journals, with demonstrated leadership in epidemiologic research.</li>
<li>Experience in designing and leading large-scale epidemiologic studies, surveillance systems, or health assessments.</li>
<li>Proficiency in epidemiologic software and statistical packages (R, STATA, SAS, Python).</li>
<li>Demonstrated excellence in teaching, supervision, and mentorship at graduate levels.</li>
<li>Experience collaborating with national health authorities, research centers, or healthcare systems.</li>
<li>Track record of securing competitive grants and leading funded public health projects.</li>
<li>Expertise in digital health, real-time surveillance, or advanced epidemiologic modeling.</li>
<li>Experience contributing to the development of MPH, PhD, or professional training programs.</li>
<li>Experience in academic leadership roles (program director, committee chair, research lead).</li>
<li>Qualification from the western accredited universities will be preferred.</li>
