The Gas Skilled Laborer/Groundman is responsible for supporting the crew by assisting with the installation and repair of gas lines.</div><div>
Gather materials for the job that day and make sure the crew has everything required.</div><ul><li>
Distribute material at job site.</li><li>
Hand locate existing utilities.</li><li>
Hand grade landscape areas.</li><li>
Safely operate equipment, such as rubber-tired backhoe, skid steer loader, directional drill, trencher, asphalt paving machine, etc.</li><li>
Utilize equipment after the Operator digs the ditch line for gas mains.</li><li>
Lift heavy natural gas pipelines for installation, when needed.</li><li>
Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.</li></ul>
Qualifications:

Minimum</b></div><ul><li>
High school diploma, or equivalent.</li><li>
1 year of gas utility construction experience.</li></ul><div><b>
Preferred</b></div><ul><li>
2 or more years of gas utility construction experience.</li></ul><div><b>

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. What You'll Do</b></p>

As a Heavy Civil Laborer at Alpha Inc., you will support civil construction and underground utility operations under the direction of a Foreman. Depending on experience and capability, responsibilities may include:</p>

<li>Loading, unloading, transporting, and staging materials, tools, and equipment</li>
<li>Digging trenches, leveling ground, and assisting with excavation and backfill</li>
<li>Supporting installation of stormwater, sewer, and water utilities</li>
<li>Cleaning and maintaining jobsites and equipment to eliminate hazards</li>
<li>Operating hand tools and light equipment such as tampers, rollers, and skid loaders</li>
<li>Flagging traffic and supporting work-zone safety</li>
<li>Communicating clearly with crew members to maintain safe and efficient operations</li>
</ul>

<li>Assist with pipe alignment, bedding, and grade checks</li>

<li>Experience performing hydrostatic or air pressure testing</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to mentor junior laborers and lead by example on site</li>

The UGE Laborer/Groundman is responsible for preparing and cleaning construction sites, loading and unloading building materials to be used, operating equipment and machines, and helping craft workers with their duties. This position supports the Construction team and works with personnel within the department.</div>
