<p><b>Summary</b></p><p>As an Underground Utility Locator, you will be essential in ensuring the accurate identification and mapping of underground utilities to prevent service disruptions and enhance safety on construction sites. Reporting to the Field Service Manager, you will utilize your core skills in utility locating and map reading, alongside your premium experience in land surveying and service technician roles.</p><p><b>Responsibilities</b><br/>- Conduct utility line locating activities to identify and mark underground utilities<br/>- Use various tools and equipment such as cable locators, ground-penetrating radar, and electromagnetic devices<br/>- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and drawings to accurately locate utility lines<br/>- Communicate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate utility line identification<br/>- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks and ensure a safe working environment<br/>- Document and report findings, including any damages or discrepancies encountered during the locating process</p><p><b>Qualifications</b><br/>- Previous experience in field service or as a service technician is preferred<br/>- Knowledge of utility locating techniques and equipment operation<br/>- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting maps and drawings<br/>- Familiarity with land surveying principles is a plus<br/>- Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts and backhoes may be required<br/>- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills<br/>- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</p><p>Note: This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the position. NATURE OF WORK</b></p><p>
 Responsible for assisting Drill Operator in locating drill head and drilling in accordance with blueprints. Verify locate marks and confirm location of existing facilities. Assist with clean-up and other duties as assigned. The Locater is responsible for maintaining equipment per manufacturer&rsquo;s specifications and safety guidelines.</p><p></p><p><b><br>
REQUISITE SKILLS</b></p><p><b>

Capacity to read and understand blueprints; knowledge of utility depths and placements; general knowledge of construction practices is required.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>
Physical Requirements / Aptitude:</b></p><ul><li>
Able to work in trenches, manholes, tunnels and confined spaces and in work settings with moderate to loud noise levels.</li><li>
Able to move in different positions &ndash; crouching, kneeling, reaching, bending and lifting 75 lbs., unassisted.</li><li>
Abie to keep good logs and consistent reporting.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><br>

Willing to work overtime when required, willing to travel and to work in all-weather conditions.</li><li>

Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is a branch of engineering that deals with mitigating risks associated with new infrastructure design and construction. Our work requires a high level of precision and technical ability. We work closely with engineers, surveyors, project managers, and utility owners to help identify utility conflicts using an array of technologies, including electromagnetic line locators, ground penetrating radar, GPS, conventional survey and vacuum excavation.</i></div>
Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Read and interpret utility records, as-built/survey drawings and highway design plans to identify utility information such as; utility type, utility owner, reported utility size, access or connection points and approximate location.</li><li>
Supervise and direct placement of basic maintenance of traffic devices.</li><li>
Adhere to Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.</li><li>
Drives the designating vehicle and vacuum excavation truck.</li><li>
Fills out the field book legibly.</li><li>

Correctly use and maintain the concrete saw.</li><li>

Lead tailgate safety meetings and develops site specific Health and Safety checklists, as required.</li><li>

Troubleshoot issues with designating equipment/able to make basic repairs (fixing leads, programming the equipment).</li><li>
Understand the vac truck operation and troubleshoot and perform minor repairs.</li><li>

Qualifications:

5-8+ years of experience in SUE, utility design, and test holes.</li><li>
Valid Driver&rsquo;s License with MVR consistent with CED Point System.</li><li>

Travel required occasionally, must be able to drive for long periods of time.</li><li>
Must be able to travel for up to two weeks at a time.</li><li>
