SUMMARY
The Vice President of Compliance is responsible for leading the organization&rsquo;s compliance function and ensuring adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards. This role provides strategic oversight of compliance operations and regulatory reporting across the company&rsquo;s affordable housing portfolio.
<div>The VP of Compliance develops and implements policies and procedures to maintain full compliance with federal, state, and local housing regulations, including LIHTC, HUD, HOME, SAIL, BOND, SHIP, and NHTF programs. This leader fosters a culture of integrity, accountability, and inclusivity across the organization.
Working closely with executive leadership and operational teams, this individual proactively monitors regulatory changes, conducts audits, investigates potential violations, manages reasonable accommodation requests, and implements corrective actions as needed.
This position requires strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills, along with deep expertise in affordable housing compliance, Yardi systems, and Fair Housing laws.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires travel approximately 30% of the time to various properties within the assigned portfolio. Travel may include attending site visits, audits, training sessions, and industry seminars. Candidates should be prepared for potential overnight stays and flexible scheduling to accommodate travel needs. Strong time management and organizational skills are essential to balance travel commitments with office-based responsibilities.
REMOTE WORK FLEXIBILITY
This role primarily involves remote work, so candidates must be highly organized and efficient in managing their tasks. While working from home, it&rsquo;s essential to maintain productivity and clear communication with the team. Flexibility in scheduling and self-motivation will be key to success in this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Regulatory Compliance Oversight
<ul><li>Ensure ongoing compliance with all affordable housing program requirements, including LIHTC, HUD, HOME, SAIL, BOND, SHIP, NHTF, and other relevant programs.</li>
<li>Oversee setup and maintenance of compliance data and reporting configurations in Yardi to ensure accuracy and consistency.</li>
<li>Monitor and interpret changes in federal, state, and local regulations; update internal policies and provide guidance to ensure organizational readiness.</li>
<li>Oversee quality control of third party reviews for all initial, annual, and interim resident certifications to ensure accuracy and compliance.</li>
<li>Manage compliance audits, inspections, and program reporting for housing agencies, syndicators, and investors.</li>
<li>Develop and implement corrective action plans to address audit findings and ensure timely resolution.</li>
<li>Oversee and handle reasonable accommodation and modification requests, ensuring timely review, approval, documentation, and compliance with Fair Housing, ADA, and Section 504 regulations.</li>
<li>Prepare and maintain rent schedules in accordance with program limits and regulatory guidelines.</li>
<li>Ensure timely preparation and submission of all required compliance reports, including IRS Form 8703, AOC reports, syndicator certifications, and monthly reporting.</li>

Policy &amp; Procedure Development
<ul><li>Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).</li>
<li>Standardize compliance practices across the portfolio to promote consistency, transparency, and accountability.</li>
<li>Maintain compliance binders for each property, containing relevant regulatory documents, program guidelines, property restrictions, and reporting requirements.</li>
<li>Establish and maintain policies related to reasonable accommodations, and modification procedures, ensuring compliance with Fair Housing and accessibility requirements.</li>
</ul>
Training &amp; Staff Development
<ul><li>Design and deliver training programs for property management and leasing teams on affordable housing compliance requirements and procedures.</li>
<li>Provide ongoing education on LIHTC, HOTMA, Fair Housing, ADA, and reasonable accommodation processes.</li>
<li>Mentor compliance staff and support continuous professional development.</li>

File &amp; Data Management
<ul><li>Maintain accurate and confidential records of all reasonable accommodation and modification requests and outcomes.</li>
<li>Ensure all compliance documentation, including rent schedules, regulatory agreements, and audit reports are organized, secure, and easily accessible.</li>
<li>Oversee accurate data entry and compliance tracking within Yardi, including unit restrictions, income limits, reasonable accommodation tracking, and reporting modules.</li>

Collaboration &amp; Communication
<ul><li>Serve as the primary liaison with housing finance agencies, HUD, FHFC, investors, syndicators, and other regulatory partners.</li>
<li>Collaborate with asset management, operations, and site teams to align compliance objectives with occupancy and financial performance goals.</li>
<li>Provide subject matter expertise in reasonable accommodation and Fair Housing compliance across departments.</li>
<li>Support cross departmental initiatives and participate in special projects as needed.
</li></ul>EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE)
<ul><li>Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Real Estate, or a related field.</li>

<li>Provide comprehensive support for senior leadership team meetings, including preparing meeting spaces, managing technology needs, taking clear and actionable notes, and documenting decisions to drive execution and accountability.</li>
<li>Track and assign action items from senior team meetings, ensuring owners are notified and deadlines are monitored to support accountability and follow‑through.</li>
<li>Own and drive the annual calendar of senior leadership team meetings, proactively coordinating schedules, managing all logistics, securing materials, and ensuring all components are delivered with excellence.</li>
<li>Prompt the President and Vice President to prepare meeting agendas and materials in advance, maintaining a smooth planning cadence so executives don&rsquo;t need to manage the process themselves.</li>
<li>Serve as the operational owner for governance processes&mdash;anticipating needs, maintaining cadence, and ensuring all governance activities occur on time, with excellence, and with minimal direction required from the President and Vice President.</li>

The Job:
As the Executive Assistant you will be a Hybrid employee out of the Charlotte office. Support compliance initiatives by tracking regulatory deadlines, maintaining confidential records, and assisting with audit preparation.</li><li>

Serve as a liaison between Compliance, Strategy, and other departments, facilitating clear communication and information flow.</li><li>
