A Waste Management Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant handling, treatment, and disposal of liquid and hazardous waste at one or more Carnival Corporation owned and operated global destination. This role ensures that all activities adhere to regulatory requirements, company policies, and environmental standards to minimize risk to people, property, and the environment. The Waste Management Technician monitors and manages waste streams, properly segregates materials, and ensures that containers and storage areas meet safety and labeling requirements. In addition, the technician conducts inspections, performs routine maintenance on waste management equipment, and documents all waste handling activities accurately. They identify potential hazards, report safety concerns, and participate in training and emergency response procedures to maintain a safe workplace. Assist with waste collection and processing on site.</li><li>
Process hazardous materials (including hazardous wastes), including testing, categorization, bulking, lab packing, and preparing hazardous waste shipping documents.</li><li>

Equipment Operation and Maintenance</b></p><ul><li>
Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate repair of a wide variety of electrical, mechanical, and heavy equipment.</li><li>

Compliance, Safety, and Reporting</b></p><ul><li>

The Field Service Technician II is responsible for the clean-up and transportation of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste. Field Service Technician II is expected to perform various tasks including but not limited to loading and unloading tanks and tankers with bulk liquids, complete inspection of equipment, hoses and connections as well as perform confined space entry.

The Waste Processing Technician I (WPTI) is an entry-level position within the Sustainable Site Solutions division of Reworld. The WPTI is responsible for the collection and processing of waste material from their client&rsquo;s facility. The WPTI takes their direction from the Project Manager when applicable. The WPTI will utilize various forms of machinery to perform their everyday tasks, including forklifts, compactors, and balers. This position will handle various types of waste during their daily routine and is expected to be safety conscious and understand the correct PPE to utilize during their tasks.</p><p></p><p><b>

<p><b>BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><p>Under the general supervision of the designated supervisor, the Operations and Maintenance Technician (O &amp; E Tech) is responsible for general facility operations and building, equipment, and grounds maintenance using equipment such as mowers, edgers, weed eaters, hand tools, and electric hand tools to perform various janitorial, landscaping, and general maintenance tasks. They assist with all aspects of facility operations using light and medium-duty equipment. Hazards may be encountered when entering, walking, or operating in landfill areas; during all weather conditions; and participating in landfill diversion activities. This employee may need to navigate manholes, trenches, and confined spaces to complete job duties. Occasional travel in a car, pickup, or SUV is required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to heavy. An individual must be able to work a rotating Saturday shift, be available during non-standard work hours for waste collection and emergencies, and manage time effectively.</p><p><b>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</b></p><p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers, feel, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms. In addition, the employee must frequently lift and move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to identify trucks, heavy equipment, and signage at varying distances to ensure safe and efficient operations. Ability to read and interpret printed and electronic information such as safety labels and operational instructions. Responsibilities

Operational Assistance
<br><br>
Delivering containers and applying signage/ stickers for clients, providing appropriate verbal and written instructions.
<br>Make recommendations to increase diversion and operational efficiency such as service changes and signage.
<br>Relocate recycling, compost, and refuse receptacles as necessary.
<br>Respond to emergency recycling, compost, or refuse needs; Perform special tasks as assigned by Operations Supervisor and zero waste staff.
<br>Coordinate and physically remove and properly sort materials from loading for recycling, composting, and reuse (i.e. discarded metals, equipment, broken furniture, etc.).
<br>Loading, unloading, and sorting of materials into bins, packer trucks, flatbed trucks, vehicles, compactors, and balers.
<br>Push and move dumpsters, wheeled carts, bales, and various containers into position to be loaded by packer truck, flatbed, or other vehicles.
<br>Use of hand trucks and pallet jacks as required.
<br>Operate compacting, baling, dumping, and various controls on cart lifters, compactors, balers, packer trucks, flatbed trucks, and vehicles.
<br>Clean and wash trash, recycling and compost receptacles and loading docks.
<br>Wash, clean, label dumpsters, wheeled carts, and various types of bins/receptacles.
<br>Remove stickers, flyers, posters, decals, and graffiti from bins, sight furnishings, and exterior of buildings, trees, hardscapes, and equipment.
<br>Removal of chalk graffiti from hardscapes and buildings.
<br>Maintenance
<br><br>
Assure all dumpsters, carts, bins, equipment, and enclosures have proper signage and labels, decals, and stickers.
<br>Assembly, maintenance, and repairs of dumpsters, wheeled carts, bins, and equipment.
<br>Performs maintenance/repairs/preventative maintenance recycling, compost, and refuse to bins, equipment, balers, and compactors.
<br>Conduct Repairs and repair to Solar Bellies as needed.
<br>Material Processing and Evaluation
<br><br>
Coordinate with campus clients, Environmental Health & Safety and Overstock and Surplus on the removal of materials.
<br>Monitor campus wide garbage, compost, and recycling sites to keep Zero Waste Specialists aware of problems and flow patterns, and recommend service changes to bring about better service, lower costs, or both.
<br>Maintain a log of the amount of material that can be kept out of the garbage and recovered as recyclable, compostable, or for reuse.
<br>Coordinate tasks between and work alongside the Packer Truck Drivers, Operations Supervisor, and Zero Waste Specialists on a daily/weekly basis.
<br>Documentation
<br><br>
Tallying information related to material sorting and using Excel to enter data on a daily basis.
<br>Using Excel spreadsheets to also input information regarding special projects and marketing campaigns.
<br>Take digital photos of garbage, recycling and compost as well as special materials and upload to computer as necessary.
<br>Use work order system to track costumers request.
<br>Additional Duties

Adhere to all university and departmental safety guidelines.
<br>Attend job related and safety training as required.

<br>Required Qualifications
<br><br>
A minimum of 12 months of working experience in grounds, recycling, and compost bin route collection operations; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
<br>Ability to properly operate and provide daily/weekly basic maintenance of dumpsters, bins, equipment, compactors, balers, and vehicles.
<br>Demonstrated ability to read, write and follow oral/written instructions provided in English.
<br>Ability to interact in a positive manner with campus community, including students, building managers, asset managers, academic personnel, and craft personnel.
<br>Ability to work within a multi-cultural environment.
<br>Working knowledge of management of recyclables and compostable materials accepted on campus and items that are considered contamination.
<br>Demonstrated working knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in grounds, recycling, and composting work and related safe work practices.
<br>On a regular basis ability to, lift up to 75 pounds; walk distances of up to mile; bend and stoop to remove materials; lift materials overhead; and to work indoors/outdoors in fluctuating and/or extreme weather conditions.
<br>Ability to work different shifts beginning as early as 4:00 a.m. and ending as late as 8:00 p.m.
<br>Ability to work weekdays, weekends, some holidays, and some overtime.
