About the role
The Wastewater Treatment Technician is responsible for carrying out the routine operational and maintenance, environmental and safety duties as assigned. This position requires an ability to follow instructions consistently and to communicate effectively so that all activities are aligned with the desires of the Operations Supervisor and Reworld 
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Complete work sheets and forms clearly and consistently.</li><li>
Gather and assist with evaluating samples (as assigned).</li><li>
Assist and/or manage the offloading of waste streams and chemical treatment products.</li><li>
Assist and/or manage bulk chemical transfers.</li><li>
Load and unload bulk tankers.</li><li>
Maintain a clean work area.</li><li>
Perform cleanings of wastewater process equipment (as assigned).</li><li>
Monitor the operation of all wastewater processing equipment.</li><li>
Maintain the operational performance of the wastewater equipment.</li><li>
Identify and report operating anomalies to the Operations Supervisor or Maintenance Department.</li><li>
Direct and assist with the operation of the sludge transfer and dewatering systems.</li><li>
Conduct basic laboratory tests to evaluate wastewater samples, as directed.</li></ul> 
Schedule:<ul><li>
Monday-Friday, average 8 to 10 hours per day. Flexible with start time (facility runs 6 am to 6:30 pm). 10-20% OT including some Saturdays.</li></ul> 
Requirements:<ul><li>
Wastewater certification preferred.</li><li>
1 year experience as Waste Water Treatment Technician</li><li>
High School diploma/GED. Formal training in higher level of education preferred.</li><li>
With adequate training after being hired, be able to install and operate remediation systems including but not limited to pumps, filters, vessels, media change-outs, etc.</li><li>
Shop work including but not limited to cleaning and maintaining shop and equipment, operating heavy equipment (forklifts, Vac-Trucks, etc.).</li><li>
Strong attention to details with the ability to analyze</li><li>

Experience: Five (5) years&rsquo; water distribution or production system operations experience, meter repair, or customer service and municipal billing, including two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience. 
 
Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required at the time of appointment and throughout employment. Possession of a valid California Class A driver's license with tanker endorsement desirable. 
 
State of California Water Resource Control Board Distribution Operators Grade 3 (or higher) is required at time of appointment and throughout employment. This may be substituted by Level 1 Water Conservation Practitioner certification issued by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) at time of appointment plus State of California Water Resource Control Board Distribution Operator Grade 2 (or higher) within 12 months of appointment and throughout employment. 
 
SPECIAL CONDITIONS 
Employees regularly assigned/required to drive a city or personal vehicle in the course and scope of work, shall be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program. 
 
Positions in this classification are deemed safety sensitive under Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and subject to drug and alcohol testing. 
 
Public Employee Disaster Service Worker: In accordance with Government Code Section 3100, all Huntington Beach City employees are required to perform assigned disaster service worker duties in the event of an emergency or a disaster.<div></div><div>
