<p><b>Education/Experience:</b></p>

<li>Responsible for the operation of the wastewater treatment, process water systems and Recycling.</li>
<li>Develop documentation and training for any process changes.</li>
<li>Supervises the troubleshooting and servicing of all wastewater and Recycling equipment and is responsible for the preventative maintenance program.</li>
<li>Responsible for working with Corporate WW/Recycling Engineering to ensure proper hand off of new or modified WWT/UPW and Recycling systems. Including qualification, work instructions, preventive maintenance, and training.</li>
<li>Manages the timely completion of special projects as required.</li>
<li>Identifies and recommends opportunities for cost savings and continuous improvement projects.</li>
<li>Interfaces with other Company and Supplier personnel as required, such as during the ordering of necessary chemicals and materials.</li>
<li>Creating effective communications to foster team building.</li>
<li>Strict adherence to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.</li>
<li>Oversight and understanding of the responsibilities of the WW/Recycling operators to properly manage hazardous waste.</li>
<li>Responsible for the proper labelling of containers, ensuring they are dated and closed at all times.</li>
<li>Inform EHS Department of any waste management issues that arise and of any new associates that need to be trained.</li>

About the role</b></p><p>
Under administrative supervision, the Assistant Solid Waste Superintendent is responsible for assisting with the overall leadership, operation, and management of the City&rsquo;s Solid Waste Department, including the Transfer Station, composting operations, and C &amp; D (rubble) sites. The department oversees solid waste collection, disposal, composting, and recycling (single-stream and cardboard), while managing personnel, equipment, and financial resources.</p><p>
During the in-training period, the Assistant Solid Waste Superintendent will:</p><ul><li>
Learn and support all major operational areas, including collection routes, transfer station operations, recycling, composting, and rubble site management.</li><li>

Repairs broken water or wastewater mains and related service connections.

Relays water and wastewater mains and services and cleans out obstructions from wastewater mains and services with a high-pressure water jetting machine.

<b>Preferred Qualifications:</b><ul><li>
Must have a high school diploma or GED and minimum experience of at least one year as an Apprentice System Operator or equivalent water and wastewater construction experience, to include skill in the operation of all related heavy equipment. Must be able to successfully pass a skills competency test in operating heavy equipment including back hoes, dump and winch trucks, tractors, and related power tools such as tamps, concrete saws, tapping machines, and gas detector before the completion of the working test.</li><li>
All newly hired employees must have <b>&ldquo;Class A&rdquo; Georgia Commercial driver's license or obtain within six months of hire.</b> Employees promoted to this position from within Water and Wastewater Department must obtain a CDL within the lesser of the remaining amount of time allotted for their previous position to obtain a CDL or six months from date of promotion.</li><li>
Must have satisfactory seven-year driving history to include no DUI&rsquo;s in the last five years.
