 Position Summary:
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Welding Engineer in manufacturing uses expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to increase the capabilities to produce heat exchangers and oil coolers for aerospace. Designs, improves, and installs integrated systems in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing environment. Directly impacts all aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation, as well as the sustaining and growth efforts of operations.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Responsibilities:
 
 
 <ul>
 <li>
 Develop and approve welding techniques, procedures, and applications of associated equipment in the manufacturing process. Primarily TIG aluminum welding with some stainless.
 </li>

 Monitor and troubleshoot weld and support process yield improvement efforts.
 </li>
 <li>
 Prepare and evaluate metallurgical samples to validate the process for production implementation.
 </li>
 <li>
 Provide technical guidance related to welding and metallurgy to design, manufacturing, and quality engineers as well as manufacturing floor associates and supervisors.

 Collaborate with Product Engineers in the design and development of new products.

 Work with Manufacturing and Engineering to determine potential applications for welding for future technology savings to meet customer requirements.

 Engage in continuous improvement activities to improve throughput and machine uptime. Develop WPS (Weld Procedure Specifications), PQR (Procedure Qualification Records), WI (Work Instructions), as well as PS4&rsquo;s, T4&rsquo;s, IP&rsquo;s, etc.

 Lead structured problem-solving events to improve first-pass yield.
 </li>

 Select and document appropriate welding equipment and settings.

POSITION SUMMARY
Since Axiom Space is a very complex work environment, we are looking for a resilient, high-energy Welding Engineer, who&rsquo;s responsible for developing, qualifying, and supporting welding processes used in the fabrication of flight and ground hardware. This role works closely with design, materials, stress, and manufacturing teams to ensure welds meet structural, safety, and certification requirements. The engineer defines weld procedures, supports supplier and in-house welding operations, and helps with troubleshooting issues during manufacturing and testing. They also play a key role in inspections, failure investigations, and continuous improvement of welding techniques for aerospace applications. This position reports to the Senior Manager &ndash; Structures &amp; Mechanisms. This role is onsite and will be based at our Space Station Development Facility (SSDF).
KEY DUTIES &amp; RESPONSIBILITIES<ul><li>
Support production operations on full-scale welded assemblies, providing direction to manufacturing engineers and welders on correct techniques in a fast-paced manufacturing environment</li><li>
Advise, guide, and provide consultation on Axiom Space welding requirements for a variety of welding processes, including materials selection, process control, and weld qualification</li><li>

 Essential Functions

 Manage current production projects and support production &amp; engineering with future product launches.

 Evaluate current product process and provide input regarding manufacturability and cost.
 </li>

 Evaluate existing product designs/processes and make improvements regarding cost and quality.

 Design, procurement, and implementation of fabrication, welding, and assembly systems, including all necessary documentation.
