Position Summary: Responsible for the complete subrogation process of investigation, negotiation, and settlement of workers compensation claims that have been identified to have subrogation potential as assigned.
Technical/Functional Responsibilities:

Purpose of Position: 
The Claims Specialist manages workers’ compensation and liability claims to ensure timely reporting, documentation, and resolution. Key Role Accountabilities:

PAY RANGE:

CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Core daily responsibilities:<ul><li>
Serve as primary relationship manager with County&rsquo;s TPA and ensure they are reviewing all claims to ensure that all medical treatment, time loss compensation, vocational services, and permanent partial disability awards are appropriate and comply with industrial insurance law.</li><li>
Provide details to Human Resources and other Departments for the purpose of developing a light-duty return-to-work program to make light-duty job offers.</li><li>
Explain industrial insurance law and L&amp;I requirements to employers. Work directly with injured workers to guide them through the workers compensation process.</li><li>
Maintain a high level of productivity and confidentiality.</li><li>
Attend depositions, settlement conferences, and hearings. Provide settlement authority within scope and consult with the Risk Manager for settlement outside of your authority.</li><li>
Review appropriate claim reserves and manage reserve adequacy throughout life of claim.</li><li>
Act as the primary liaison with internal and external stakeholders to manage Workers Compensation claims and regulatory requirements.</li><li>
Collaborate with and provide recommendations to the Risk Manager on major decisions requiring review and approval.</li></ul>

<div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader">Minimum Qualifications</h2></div>
<div><ul><li>Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional experience in workers compensation, accident investigations, contract assessments, safety or risk management audits, or other closely related field including workers compensation program management.</li><li>
Postsecondary education in public safety, human resource management, public or business administration, or closely related field may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis.</li><li>
