<p><b>General Summary:</b></p><p>The Adult Services / Lead Librarian is a full-time, non-union, non-exempt, 40-hour, 52 week per year position that oversees the library&rsquo;s budget, physical materials, programs, and staff, ensuring all operations follow the policies set by the Board of Library Trustees. This position works closely with the Trustees as both an advisor and active contributor in developing policies, preparing and managing the budget, setting goals, planning services, and evaluating outcomes.</p><p>In addition to providing direct service to patrons, this role carries broader operational, technology, and reporting responsibilities under the Library&rsquo;s updated organizational structure. <p>Oceanside Library is seeking a high-performing, enthusiastic, and dedicated Librarian or Librarian-Trainee to join our team and work in our innovative Adult Services and Information Department. This part-time position includes evenings, weekends, and daytime coverage as needed.</p><p><b>Duties include, but not limited to: </b></p><p>&middot; Provide a high level of hospitality and customer service.</p><p>&middot; General public desk duties, reader&rsquo;s advisory, collection development, inquiries regarding programming, library services, and databases.</p><p>&middot; Assist patrons with a range of current and popular technology devices such as public computers/laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, eReaders: Kindles, tablets, etc. and downloading eBooks and eAudiobooks using the Libby app.</p><p>&middot; Attend workshops and training sessions at the request of the Department Head and/or Library Director.</p><p>&middot; Assist with programs on and offsite.</p><p>&middot; Other projects and tasks as assigned.</p><p><b>Minimum Qualifications: </b></p><p>&middot; MLS degree from an ALA accredited college or university.</p><p>&middot; Current NYS Librarian&rsquo;s Certificate</p><p>&middot; Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.</p><p>&middot; Ability and willingness to learn new emerging technologies and services.</p><p>&middot; Ability to work on an individual basis and in a team environment &ndash; cooperatively and collaboratively.</p><p>&middot; Experience with Sierra and Vega is a plus.</p><p><b>Compensation: </b>Librarian:$27 per hour</p><p>Librarian-Trainee: $25 per hour</p><p>Required Availability: Tuesday and Friday Evenings, some afternoons and weekends.</p><p>Oceanside Library is an Association Library and is not subject to Civil Service requirements.</p><p>Oceanside Library is a member of the New York State Retirement System.
