Rebound has three group residential home for 14-18+ year olds in the juvenile justice or social services systems.</p><p><b>POSITION: </b>Youth Engagement Specialist</p><p><b>GENERAL DESCRIPTION:</b></p><p>Residential group home services provides to up to 6 young people per house between the ages of 14 and 18+ and delivers holistic programming and services 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Youth Engagement Specialists promote a trauma-informed, safe, and welcoming environment for all youth and their families. DISTINGUISHING JOB CHARACTERISTICS</b></p>

The facility is a 24-hour; 7 day per week operation therefore employees will be assigned to a work shift, with essential job duties and responsibilities specific to the shift&rsquo;s needs. The work is performed in a detention facility for juvenile offenders, in need of short-term high-impact intervention, pending case disposition. Work involves monitoring, coaching and directing juvenile&rsquo;s behavior and activities. Required to provide coverage for call-ins, high count and any open shift as needed, which could occasionally consist of working a 16-hour shift.</p>

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p>

Supervises and monitors youth detained in a detention facility in accordance with established procedures, process and requirements.</p>

Maintains group control. Controls noise level, behavior, and diffuse potentially escalating situations through application of verbal and non-verbal deescalating techniques.</p>

Completes Behavior Observation logs reflecting juvenile&rsquo;s behavior, problems, visitations, confinements, restrictions, interaction with peers, and other issues.</p>

Maintains and enforces security procedures, and ensures safety and security of both youth and staff. Resolves differences and disagreements among youths, and intervenes in youth altercations. Helps restrain youths and deals with behavior problems as necessary in accordance with prescribed guidelines. Conducts searches of youth and rooms to locate contraband, and conducts night perimeter checks to identify unusual situations and ensure building security.</p>

Completes incident reports, damage reports, emergency medical reports and other</p>

records. Recommends discipline and completes juvenile disciplinary reports.</p>

Conducts group sessions to help establish peer communication and understanding, and to explore alternatives to delinquent behavior. Maintains communication with &ldquo;ending shift&rdquo; Youth Specialists to discuss youth problems, incidences and other issues to ensure understanding of youth issues and needs, and maintain security.</p>

Operates vehicle to transport youth to and from hospital, medical appointments, activities, programs and other locations. Escorts youth to school classes.</p>

Monitors visitation and maintains log reflecting names of visitors, juvenile visited and related information. Observes visitors and monitors physical contact between youth and visitor to maintain facility security. Confers with parents and guardians to provide feedback and solicit information pertaining to youth problems, issues and needs.</p>

Admits youth to facility. Searches youth for contraband, requires youth to shower, and provides youth with personal necessities. Conducts initial orientation and attitude testing to assess youth&rsquo;s mental, emotional and academic status. Youth Specialist II (Detention Services)

<p>Boulder County Community Planning and Permitting Department is seeking to hire a <b>Youth Programs Specialist</b>. Boulder County&rsquo;s wildfire mitigation program&mdash;Wildfire Partners&mdash;is currently seeking a Youth Programs Specialist to help coordinate our Youth Helping Vulnerable Individuals and Communities program. Wildfire Partners works with partners&mdash;such as TEENS Inc. and Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC)&mdash;to provide free wildfire mitigation services to individuals and communities who are unable to complete mitigation on their own. The Youth Programs Specialist is the liaison between Wildfire Partners, the partner organizations, and the individuals and communities receiving the free mitigation services.</p><p>
Mitigation work focuses on creating and maintaining defensible space and performing hazardous fuels reduction projects. Defensible space projects include removing combustible material near structures (and placing it into dumpsters), cutting trees and shrubs, cutting grasses, removing surface fuels, low limbing trees, removing combustible debris and other items from under decks and other locations, and creating and maintaining a five-foot non-combustible zone next to structures. Some crews doing this work use chainsaws; some do not. Hazardous fuels reduction projects are performed by chainsaw crews and involve vegetation removal farther than 100 feet from homes such as creating fuel breaks identified in Community Wildfire Protection Plans.<br>

Vulnerable individuals and communities are historically underrepresented or underserved residents of Boulder County who often have not been able to easily access mitigation services. <div>The Sitka AmeriCorps Program works to address the high rates of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) in rural Alaska by fostering strong developmental relationships with youth. Members support this mission through enrichment activities, academic assistance, mentoring, mental health support, and capacity building efforts. Members typically serve 36&ndash;40 hours per week in roles such as tutors, mentors, outreach workers, and community organizers. Members live in shared co-housing and help maintain a cooperative living environment. Position Summary</b></p><p>
Seasonal Youth Development Professional (SYDP) practice is to provide children and teens, June through August, with high-quality experiences that support their current and long-term success. Staff utilize our five key elements for positive youth development, based on research that studied many Clubs&rsquo; best practices:</p><ul><li>

Generate fun and foster a sense of belonging</li><li>
Encourage supportive relationships with peers and adults</li><li>
Provide opportunities and set expectations</li><li>
Offer recognition to positive behavior</li></ul><p>
A successful SYDP will have the ability to recognize young people&rsquo;s contributions and accomplishments, while working alongside other club staff. Have the capabilities to help members reframe conflict, identify their feelings, and understand the relationship between emotion, behavior, and consequence.
</p><p><b>Boys &amp; Girls Club of Central Ohio offers after school and summer programing 12 months a year.</b></p><p><b>
Essential Job Function &amp; Responsibilities:</b></p><ul><li>
Independently implementing core BGCA curriculum and evaluating programs, services, and activities with members in a safe environment. SYDP to member ratios; 1:15, up to 20.</li><li>
Maintain a program area schedule that satisfies the diverse interests and abilities of Club members; ensure programming is age appropriate.</li><li>
Contributing to a healthy and safe environment, ensuring that facilities, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained.</li><li>
Promote the development of social and emotional skills.</li><li>
Manage classroom conduct and exhibit problem-solving skills needed to redirect behavior.</li><li>
Maintain daily and monthly attendance records during programming for their own classroom.</li><li>
Fulfilling responsibilities and all other duties as assigned for BGCCO club location for which they are assigned.</li><li>
Capability to be flexible, travel and work at other clubs within the market as required. Mileage paid in accordance with the IRS standard milage rates.</li></ul><p><b>
Training &amp; Meeting Requirements</b></p><ul><li>
Responsible for meal service operations which include receiving food from vendor, ensuring the meal count is accurate at point of service, and compiling the monthly meal count record and daily time log.</li><li>

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and basic computer skills.</li></ul><p><b>

</li><li>Continuously accounts for the members in their assigned group by name and face.</li><li>Oversees implementation of NAEYC standards and GSQ (when applicable), Culture DNA code, as well as BGCCNNH and CCLU rules and policies regarding safety, compliance, and best practices.</li><li>Dispenses medications according to company policy, administers first aid as needed; communicates all occurrences to families.</li><li>Oversees and assists in cleaning, organizing, and maintaining classroom well-being and upkeep.

<ul><li>Oversees proper record-keeping and weekly reporting, including activities and events conducted in the membership/finance system. Will provide data for input to a Center Director or other applicable staff.</li><li>Facilitates open and effective, professional verbal and written communication with families, staff, and children.</li><li>Supervises classroom staff, students, and volunteers; provides regular feedback about job performance.

<ul><li>Must be an associate teacher qualified before November 6, 2017, have a minimum of 9 credits in related coursework or have a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program, and knowledge of child growth and development obtained through one of the following: a. Completion of a high school level 2-year career and technical education course in teacher education; b. A 3-credit college course in child or human growth and development; c. Thirty hours of training in child growth and development, granted by an accredited college or university, an authorized provider of the International Association for Continuing Education and Training, or obtained through documented life experience, including experience with the same age children, the associate teacher supervises, such as a family child care provider, service as a foster parent, work as a school teacher, work as a camp counselor and experience as a group leader for children in sports or other activities, such as scouts or little league, or closely related experience.</li></ul></div><ul><li><br>
Must be 18 years of age or older.</li><li>Knowledge of current methods, principles, and techniques of teaching.
</li><li>Knowledge of curriculum development and application.
</li><li>Ability to plan and implement quality programs; proven track record of creative and artistic teaching strategies.</li><li>Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.
