Shippensburg University is seeking motivated Seasonal Groundskeepers to join the Facilities Division during the summer months. This position is responsible for maintaining campus roads, grounds, walkways, parking lots, and athletic fields in a safe, clean, orderly, and ready-for-use condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine grounds maintenance, including seeding, planting, fertilizing, mowing, pesticide application, leaf removal, and care of trees, shrubs, and plants.
- Inspect and clean storm drains, ensure proper drainage, and maintain outdoor safety standards.
- Operate grounds maintenance equipment such as sweepers, snowplows, leaf blowers, outdoor vacuums, fertilizer spreaders, rotary and reel-type riding mowers, verticut machines, aerators, rototillers, and other related tools.
- Complete scheduled equipment and tool preventive maintenance, as well as seasonal preparations, such as storage, cleaning, and readiness for use.
- Work and line athletic and instructional fields, set up and operate portable sprinklers, and ensure field readiness according to user schedules.
- Supervise and lead part-time student personnel as assigned, completing tasks individually or as part of a team.
- Perform additional general labor tasks as assigned, including non-technical painting, cleaning, and other duties appropriate to the weather and operational needs.
This position is considered essential within the Facilities Division. Essential employees are required to remain on duty or report to work during partial or full University closures due to hazardous road conditions, emergencies, or other circumstances.
