Seasonal Laboratory Assistant, No Experience Required, Paid Training

Laboratory Division – $18/hr.

Up to $1,200 Sign-on Bonus

We are seeking hardworking individuals to join us this summer at The Desplaines Valley Mosquito Abatement District. Pay rate is $18/hr. with the opportunity to earn a $1,200 Sign-on Bonus. No experience required and paid training will be included. This is a great seasonal position for college students or recent grads looking to get experience in a laboratory setting. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Field collection of samples
• Mosquito identification using microscopes and keys.
• Neatly record data collected
• Preparation and testing of mosquito samples for virus presence (BSL-2)
• Cleaning and maintaining equipment
• Safely drive pickup truck on and off-road.
• Field work will include uneven terrain, heavy vegetation, and varying weather conditions.
• Optionally available to conduct adult mosquito spraying at a rate of $24/hr.

Successful Candidate Must:

• Have a valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Be proficient with maps and a good sense of direction.
• Have good attention to detail
• Have good organization skills
• Be able to work independently from the Supervisor.
• Be available to work through August 15th or later.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $18.00 per hour
