Seasonal Landscaping

Elmhurst Cemetery, located in Joliet, is seeking a dependable and hardworking individual to join our seasonal grounds crew. This role is responsible for helping maintain the cemetery’s dignified, respectful, and well-kept appearance. The position is well suited for candidates with landscaping/groundskeeper experience or someone looking for seasonal work through the beginning of October. Daily job tasks will include:

• Grass cutting, operating push and power mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers and may occasionally assist with burial duties.
• Remove debris and litter from grounds, turn down vases and remove wilted flowers.
• And any other general cemetery upkeep.

This position will work at a minimum 30 hours a week (up to 40 hours) typically scheduled Monday - Thursday 7am-3:30pm. This position may work other hours including Saturday mornings and/or holidays due to adverse weather conditions, in order to sufficiently maintain cemetery grounds. Paid holidays and overtime potential are included with this position.

Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver’s license and at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
• Have physical stamina to perform manual labor tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and to operate various power tools and hand tools safely.
• Responsible and dependable.
• Work independently with attention to detail to maintain high standards of quality in work performed.

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 per week
