40% While working under the Electrical Manager’s direction the Electrician will perform, at the journeyman’s level, electrical maintenance tasks required to maintain the Fairground’s electrical equipment and systems.
- Perform skilled work in the installation, alteration and repair of wiring, overhead circuits, underground circuits and pole lines.
- Layout, assemble, install, test and maintain electrical fixtures and apparatus such as HV switchgear, sectionalizing cabnets, conduit, wiring, loadbreak elbows, cut-outs, arresters/insulators, bus bars and transmission lines while maintaining continuity and proper connections.
- Install and maintain electrical components doing limited mechanical work in regard to repair and replacement of parts when servicing electrical fixtures and equipment.
- Maintain the tools and equipment needed for the safe operation of the electrical shop.
- Insure that safe operating procedures are followed and that ISF policy and procedures regarding safety are maintained throughout the work place.
- Keep accurate time and material records regarding the daily work in order to track labor and material costs and insure that inventories are maintained at an adequate level.
60% Provide electrical support services for the annual Iowa State Fair in a timely, courteous and safe manner for both the vendor and the public’s use.
- All temporary power connections are made using methods of work, materials and installation procedures that are code compliant; meeting or exceeding the established standards.
- All ISF connections are hooked up to equipment that is code complaint.
- Work closely with vendors, promoters, exhibitors and entertainers in a courteous and professional manner by providing electrical services that best accommodate their needs while maintaining the communication with the Electrical Manager that is necessary to insure that the highest safety standards are maintained and that the Fairs best interest is always the prime consideration.
- Material and labor records for all billable services are recorded and relayed to the Electrical Supervisor for accounting.

Must be licensed as a Journeyman Lineman by the State of Iowa and have CDL

Must be able to follow oral and written directions.

Physically mobile enough to enter, exit and operate skid steer loaders, tractors, forklifts and dump trucks.

Must be able to operate hand and power tools such as saws, drills, augers and jack hammers.
