Seasonal Maintenance Technician

Michigan Freeze Pack is currently seeking candidates for a Seasonal Maintenance Technician position. This position is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of production equipment. This role performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on equipment in the facility to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. This position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and the PSM/Maintenance Manager.

This is a seasonal position. Compensation ranges from $18.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Refrigeration experience is highly valued and may place candidates at the higher end of the pay range. A potential pay increase may be considered after a 60-day review, provided sufficient knowledge and proficiency in the position's requirements are demonstrated.

Job Description Specifics:

• Install, overhaul, repair and maintain all food processing equipment.
• Perform various maintenance duties including welding, grinding and fabrication, using a variety of tools. (TIG and MIG Welding is not required but is preferred).
• Diagnose problems, replace and repair parts, make adjustments as needed to keep production running.
• Notify Maintenance Manager, Production Manager and Supervisors if any unsafe or hazardous conditions are discovered and take appropriate actions to remedy.
• Must comply with all Good Manufacturing Practices and OSHA regulations. Must follow all safety techniques and consistently comply with all facility safety procedures.
• Must be able to work flexible hours, maintain good attendance and work overtime as needed.

Prerequisite Knowledge:

• Basic knowledge of or ability to repair shafts/drums, conveyor belting, bearings, electric motors, gearboxes, UHMW, chains, sprockets, PVC piping, 3 phase/1phase plugs and receptacles, circuit breakers/boards, contactors/starters, overloads, variable frequency drives, pump/steam packing, centrifugal fluid pumps, steam/PVC/potable water valves.
• Basic knowledge of PLC’s, HDMI interfaces, 480VAC &240VAC 3 phase/1 phase, 220VDC, 24VDC, switches, optical sorters, air compressors, steam boilers, fuse and circuit breaker replacement, electrical plus and receptacle replacement, install/replace wires or cords.
• Operate forklift/aerial lift as needed or required.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to walk and stand throughout shift.
• Occasional climbing, bending, stooping, and twisting.
