Duration: No Longer than 6 months


Hours are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


City of Lincoln City has a great opportunity with the Parks and Recreation Department as a Seasonal Parks Maintenance Worker staff member! This position is responsible for supporting the Parks team by performing a variety of maintenance functions, including maintaining parks, open spaces and beach access, cleaning restrooms, litter removal and some landscaping. Schedule may include holidays.

Job Qualifications

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: At least one year of relevant experience including landscaping, grounds maintenance, building maintenance, janitorial and/or general repair experience required. Must possess a valid OR driver's license. Employment contingent upon passing a physical, drug screen, driver's license & criminal history check.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/LICENSES: Valid driver’s license.

Purpose of Position: Support the Parks team by performing a variety of maintenance functions, including maintaining parks, open spaces and beach access, cleaning restrooms, litter removal and some landscaping.

Essential Job Functions: Maintain parks, beach access and other public areas: mow, aerate, fertilize, and irrigate, control weeds by hand, maintain/repair/replace sprinkler heads and lines, clear sand, power washing and other similar activities.

Clean public restrooms and other public use areas, including emptying garbage and cleaning floors, basins and fixtures.


May perform routine building maintenance, such as painting or building repair.


Operate and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, such as: power mowers, weed trimmers, edgers, power washers, and other groundskeeping and repair tools.


Maintain cooperative working relationships with City staff, other organizations and the general public.


Follow all safety rules and procedures for work areas. Correct and/or report unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.


Other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands of Position


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, push, climb, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility. Many duties are physically demanding and require moving materials weighing up to 30-50 pounds on a regular basis such as bags of fertilizer, bags of lime, certain equipment, etc. and infrequently weighing up to 80 pounds. During the spring season, the frequency of lifting up to 75 pounds can increase to up to daily. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period, as duties require regular operation of motorized vehicle and use of hand and power tools. Movement of materials between 30-50 pounds may consume up to 25% of the work period. In addition, working at heights of up to 35 feet is required as well as working on a highway median or raised on a boom truck.
