Seasonal Part-Time Gardener (Subcontractor)

Job Description:

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Seasonal Part-Time Gardener to work as a subcontractor on residential properties. This position focuses strictly on garden maintenance — no lawn mowing or turf care. The work is physically demanding and best suited for someone who enjoys outdoor labor and has plant care experience.

Availability required: Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Thursdays

Responsibilities:

• Plant knowledge (annuals/perennials), planting, transplanting, weeding, pruning, and deadheading
• Mulching and seasonal bed cleanup
• Hauling garden debris, soil, and materials
• Identifying plant health issues (pests, disease, water stress)
• Maintaining clean and professional job sites

Requirements:

• Previous gardening, horticulture, or landscaping experience
• Must be available Mondays and/or Tuesdays
• Shifts are 6–8 hours depending on job needs and weather conditions
• Must have reliable transportation to multiple job sites within Holland/Saugatuck Area
• Physically demanding work: lift 50+ lbs, kneel, bend, dig, and work in all weather
• Must provide your own gloves and basic hand tools
• Comfortable working as part of a crew and taking direction
• Must be at least 18 years old
• 1099 subcontractor: responsible for your own taxes and insurance

Schedule:

• Mondays , Tuesdays and/or Thursdays
• 6–8 hour daytime shifts
• Seasonal position: April - December
