Seated Drum Therapy

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Seated Drum Therapy Practitioner to join our dynamic mental health and wellness team. In this role, you will utilize specialized seated drumming techniques to facilitate emotional expression, stress relief, and cognitive engagement among diverse client populations. Responsibilities

  • Conduct seated drum therapy sessions tailored to individual client needs, focusing on emotional regulation, trauma processing, and behavioral management
  • Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating music-based interventions aligned with clients’ therapeutic goals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including psychologists, social workers, and medical professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Monitor and document client progress through detailed clinical notes, adhering to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards
  • Facilitate group drum therapy sessions to promote social skills, teamwork, and community integration
  • Engage in ongoing research and data collection to evaluate the effectiveness of seated drum therapy techniques
  • Provide crisis intervention and behavior management support during sessions as needed

Requirements

  • Proven experience in psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, or related mental health counseling fields
  • Strong background in music therapy, art therapy, or dance/movement therapy with a focus on percussion instruments or drumming techniques
  • Knowledge of crisis management, trauma-informed care (including PTSD), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder
  • Familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for diagnostic evaluation and medical record documentation
  • Experience with telehealth platforms for remote therapy sessions is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, geriatrics, and diverse populations in outpatient or inpatient settings
  • Excellent communication skills for intake assessments, patient care planning, and group facilitation
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance, medical terminology, CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical records management
  • Certifications in psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), addiction counseling, grief counseling or related fields are advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to manage crisis situations calmly while employing behavior management strategies
