Secondary CTE Teacher (Fall 2026)

Colorado Military Academy is a tuition free public charter school for K-12 conveniently located next to Peterson SFB. Pre-K is available as a tuition-based program.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Secondary Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher for the Fall 2026 semester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire high school students by delivering engaging, hands-on instruction in various technical and vocational fields. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for education, a strong background in their subject area, and a commitment to fostering student growth both academically and personally. As a Secondary CTE Teacher, you will develop innovative curricula, mentor students, and contribute to preparing young learners for successful careers and further education.

Duties

  • Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating current learning technologies to enhance student engagement.
  • Deliver instruction across multiple CTE disciplines.
  • Develop and adapt curriculum materials using best practices in curriculum development, AP style guidelines, Chicago Manual of Style standards, and proofing techniques.
  • Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support growth.
  • Mentor and support students’ academic and personal development through individualized academic advising and behavior management strategies.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment with effective classroom management techniques; utilize childhood development principles to address diverse student needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, participate in school-wide initiatives, and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching practices.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to teaching physical education, special education strategies, Montessori methods, or other relevant areas to enrich instructional quality.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; advanced certifications or endorsements in secondary education preferred.
  • Valid teaching license or certification appropriate for secondary education levels; experience with private school settings is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated expertise in core subjects such as math (including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus), literacy education, or specialized technical fields.
  • Proven experience working with children and adolescents in classroom settings; familiarity with classroom management and behavior management techniques.
  • Strong communication skills—public speaking ability is highly valued—and the capacity to effectively mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of learning technology tools and digital resources used for lesson planning, tutoring, and instructional delivery.
  • Experience with curriculum development that integrates creative writing, sports coaching techniques, library services or other extracurricular activities is a plus.
  • Ability to adapt instruction for students with special needs or those requiring individualized educational plans (IEPs). Work Environment & Conditions:

Business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00pm on school days. Schedule will be adjusted for inclement weather. Shifts in excess of 5 hours receive a 30-minute unpaid, duty-free lunch period.
