The role includes preparing students for GCSE/IGCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition and contributing to a dynamic and engaging Design & Technology provision.Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Teach both practical and theoretical components of Food Preparation and Nutrition
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE/IGCSE Food Technology or Food Preparation and Nutrition
- Use a range of teaching strategies to develop practical skills, independence, and confidence
- Differentiate effectively to meet the needs of all learners
Curriculum and Assessment
- Contribute to the planning and development of the Food Technology curriculum
- Ensure clear progression in practical skills, food science knowledge, and nutritional understanding
- Assess, record, and report on student progress in line with school policies
- Support moderation and coursework requirements where applicable
- Use assessment data to inform teaching and improve student outcomes
Practical Provision and Health & Safety
- Plan, prepare, and manage practical cooking lessons effectively
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards
- Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organised food technology room
- Manage equipment, ingredients, and resources efficiently
- Promote safe working practices and hygiene among students

Person SpecificationEssential
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Relevant qualification in Food Technology, Nutrition, or a related field
- Experience teaching Food Technology across KS3 and KS4
- Experience preparing students for GCSE/IGCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition
- Strong practical classroom management and organisational skills
- Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety requirements
Desirable
- Experience teaching KS5 Food Science or related subjects
- Experience in an international or British overseas school
- Ability to contribute to wider Design & Technology provision
- Experience leading enrichment activities or competitions
