Job Summary:

The mission of Head Start is to promote the school readiness of children ages 3 to 5 by encouraging their cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Head Start recognizes that parents are a child’s first teacher and also aims to empower them for a lifelong role in the child’s maturation and learning.

The Secondary Teacher works cooperatively with the Primary Teacher and assists in implementing Early Childhood Development learning experiences and activities.

TCC, CDA or Diploma in Early Childhood Education or closely related field is required.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist in the implementation of daily lesson plans

* Knowledge of the curriculum and assessments

* Assist in setting up and organizing the classroom

* Help to create and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for all children

* Assist in maintaining complete and concise records for each child

* Assist in implementing IEP’s for children with disabilities

* Complete daily attendance records, meals served, etc.

* Assist in the inventory of classroom materials and supplies, and store as directed

* Assist with visits to the homes of parents or guardians of children assigned to classroom

* Assist with making staff parent conferences.

* Encourage parent participation in special activities, etc.

* Assist with lunchroom and bus duties, as assigned.

* Assist with recruitment and enrollment.

* Assist with classroom clean-up, including bathroom.

* Perform other duties as directed.

Minimum Requirements of the Position

* TCC, CDA or Diploma in ECE from a technical school required

* Must possess a valid first aid and CPR certification

* Must be a US citizen; have a Permanent Resident Card, or an alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551)

* Must have and maintain a clean driving record (NOT TO EXCEED 6 PTS)

* Must have and maintain a criminal history absent of convictions for violent crimes or for any crime against children.

Job Type: Full-time
