This position is for the Dietary Department - Mon. - Fri. no weekends.
Will help with billing, scheduling, meeting with new co-workers, assist the Directors and Supervisors of the dietary department with assignments and projects.

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs routine clerical and administrative functions to management such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, or providing information to inquires.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Treats all information about residents, their condition, and family as well as personnel matters as confidential information.
  • Complies with established Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures, and maintains established standards and practices.
  • Provides clerical assistance to management such as answering telephones, word processing, receiving visitors, confidential files, financial records, sorting mail, etc.
  • Composes, types, and distributes meeting notes, routine correspondence, and reports.
  • Enters information/data on the computer concisely, accurately and completely.
  • Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems, and use computers for spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and other applications.
  • Set up and maintain paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence, and other material.
  • Learns to operate new office technologies as they are developed and implemented.
  • Coordinates communication among other departments regarding necessary information.
  • Provides other clerical functions for different departments.
  • Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Requires tact, finesse, and a gracious spirit in meeting requests and/or complaints in a manner reflective of Homewood's customer service philosophy.
  • Keyboard speed of 40 wpm; ability to fully use computer, Microsoft word/excel, graphics and database software.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English well. Proficient in spelling, punctuation, grammar and other English language skills
  • Has compassion, understanding and empathy for older persons and has ability to communicate well with prospective residents.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to respond in a cheerful, pleasant, and professional manner to the public and enjoys working with the public.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven experience in information and communication management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires extensive work using a computer. This position has physical and mental aspects of sedentary work in which lifting requirements are minimal. Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or operate computers, objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
