Security Alarm / Surveillance Technician

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain security alarm systems, CCTV cameras, sensors, fire alarms, and access control hardware across various sites.
  • Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting of low voltage electrical systems, cabling, and system components using hand tools and power tools.
  • Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system design documents to accurately implement security solutions.
  • Diagnose technical issues related to computer networking, telecommunication systems, remote access software, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and surveillance equipment.
  • Perform field service tasks including system upgrades, repairs, testing, and calibration to ensure optimal operation.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their security needs and provide tailored system sales consultations when appropriate.
  • Maintain detailed service records, installation logs, schematics updates, and incident reports to ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a service technician in security or surveillance systems with a strong understanding of low voltage electrical work.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, networking protocols, and telecommunication systems essential for remote access and system integration.
  • Mechanical aptitude combined with familiarity with construction environments for seamless installation in diverse settings.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to security system design and electrical components.
  • Hands-on experience working with CCTV cameras (analog/digital), sensors (motion detectors), fire alarm systems, and lock mechanisms.
  • Proficiency with hand tools (wire strippers, screwdrivers) and power tools (drills, saws) necessary for installation tasks.
  • Strong electrical experience including cabling techniques for low voltage systems such as alarm wiring or network cabling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues involving system design or hardware failures swiftly.
  • Valid experience in alarm system sales or customer service roles is a plus for engaging clients effectively.
