Security Design QA/QC & Technical Assurance Engineer - Security Systems / ULV / Telecom (CCTV, ACS)

Role Overview

The Security Design QA/QC & Technical Assurance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all electronic security system designs (and drawings), engineering deliverables, and technical documentation meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and technical assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

This role supports the successful delivery of complex security projects by implementing and maintaining quality assurance and quality control processes across design, engineering, integration, and commissioning activities. The position plays a critical role in verifying compliance with client requirements, industry standards, regulatory frameworks, and company design governance procedures.

The successful candidate will work closely with design engineers, project managers, consultants, integrators, and clients to identify and resolve quality issues, improve design consistency, and ensure that all security solutions are technically compliant, coordinated, and fit for purpose across critical infrastructure, commercial, data centre, and mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance & Technical Governance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC procedures and technical assurance processes for electronic security systems projects.
  • Ensure all design deliverables comply with company standards, project specifications, and client requirements.
  • Review and validate security system designs, drawings, calculations, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct quality reviews of:
  • Access Control Systems
  • CCTV & Video Management Systems
  • Intrusion Detection Systems
  • Intercom Systems
  • Perimeter Detection Systems
  • Security Networks & Infrastructure
  • Integrated Security Platforms
  • Verify compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Monitor design coordination activities to ensure multidisciplinary integration and technical consistency.
  • Participate in design reviews, workshops, FAT/SAT processes, and technical assurance meetings.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of design documentation and project deliverables.
  • Identify non-conformities, technical risks, and design gaps, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support technical assurance activities throughout design, construction, commissioning, and handover phases.
  • Ensure proper document control and revision management of all engineering deliverables.
  • Assist with project closeout documentation and as-built validation processes.

Technical Expertise

The successful candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge and experience in:

  • Security systems integration
  • IP-based security architecture
  • Structured cabling and network infrastructure
  • Security systems commissioning and testing
  • ELV / ICT / Telecoms / ULV systems coordination
  • Data centre and critical infrastructure environments
  • BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design integration

Familiarity with Industry Platforms & Technologies

  • Cisco networking infrastructure

Standards, Compliance & Technical Assurance

Strong understanding of applicable standards and regulatory frameworks including:

  • ISO standards and quality management systems
  • BSI security standards
  • Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles
  • Structured cabling standards
  • Electronic security design best practices
  • Local authority and authority approval processes
  • Cybersecurity fundamentals for security systems
  • Testing, commissioning, and validation procedures

Software & Tools

  • AutoCAD
  • Revit / BIM platforms
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bluebeam or PDF review tools
  • Document management systems
  • Network and security system diagramming tools
  • QA/QC reporting and tracking tools

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in:
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Security Systems Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • ICT / Telecommunications
  • Engineering Technology
  • Or related discipline
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in security systems engineering, QA/QC, technical assurance, or design management roles.
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale or mission-critical security projects.
  • Previous experience within security integrators, consultants, contractors, or specialist engineering environments.
  • Strong experience reviewing and coordinating multidisciplinary security designs.
  • Experience within data centres, critical infrastructure, commercial, aviation, healthcare, transport, or high-security environments is highly desirable.
  • Valid driving license (mandatory)
  • Ability to travel as required (10%)

Preferred Certifications & Accreditations

Highly desirable certifications may include:

  • CPP – Certified Protection Professional
  • PSP – Physical Security Professional
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor
  • SIRA certifications/accreditations
  • Manufacturer certifications (LenelS2, Genetec, Gallagher, Milestone, etc.)
  • BIM or Revit-related certifications (desirable)
