The role of the Security Guard is to ensure the safety and security of all Marshall Farms’ personnel and assets. This is achieved by ensuring access control at all physical sites, monitoring detection and surveillance systems, patrolling, detecting and reporting issues of concern and responding to related activity or conditions.
Marshall Farms Security Guards will conduct all essential tasks in a safe and professional manner while being cognizant of their own personal safety at all times.
This position is a grade O12 with a pay range of $17.92 - $26.10/Hour.
Security Guards will be expected to:
The Security Guard will maintain a working-level proficiency in all NY DCJS Security Guard topic areas to include:
1. Role of a Security Guard
2. Legal Powers & Limitations
3. Emergency Situations
4. Communications and Public Relations
5. Access Control
6. Report Writing
7. Ethics and Conduct
8. Elective Topics (As emphasized during training)
Individual will stay up-to-date with methods and concepts of security by participating in regular continuing education opportunities.
Security must have effective organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to use computers to perform essential job requirements.
Individuals will be proficient in proper patrol and apprehension techniques with or without a K9 partner.
Requirements:This position requires that you have a High School Diploma or GED
You must be able to obtain a NYS Security Guards License
You must have a valid Driver License
Work Conditions:
Coverage is 24/7 with varying shifts requiring extended hours, and night, weekend, and holiday work. The ability to work in adverse weather conditions is necessary.
Physical Requirement:
Work is physically demanding requiring the guard to be in good physical condition and be committed to staying in such condition throughout their employment with Marshall Farms’ Security. Daily patrol may involve walking and running and require the use of mountain bikes and various vehicles. Individuals must have good vision including the ability to see well under low light conditions (night vision) and be able to detect objects or movement to one’s sides when the eyes are looking ahead (peripheral vision).
Mental Requirement:
Individuals must be able to work independently or with others in adverse conditions including extreme weather conditions (rain, snow, cold and heat) and darkness. Good communication and people skills are a necessity. Individual must have the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Individual is capable of monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems. Individuals can effectively give, receive, understand and apply written and oral instructions.
