Security Officer II

Overview: The Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for all UnityPoint Health properties. This role monitors hospital buildings and premises to prevent theft, vandalism, unauthorized intruders, and protects patients, team members, and visitors. The Security Officer provides input in developing security procedures, which address the day-to-day physical security needs of the Unity Point Health System. Why UnityPoint Health?:

Responsibilities:

Patrol hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders. Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises. Confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed. Screen visitors, patients and team members at entrances. Report safety and/or fire hazards or security violations. Complete incident report on any significant security incident or concern, relays safety related information as appropriate.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or highest level of post-secondary education. Preferred Associate or Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice law enforcement Preferred military, law enforcement and/or security experience is highly preferred. Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must obtain Iowa weapons permit and be Taser certified within 30 days. Ability to de-escalate violent, aggressive, or disruptive persons. Use of critical thinking in a high stress environment. Excellent observation skills. Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
