Job Overview
The Security Associate/ Gym Monitor is a visible, authoritative presence on the Sanctuary Fitness gym floor. This role is equal parts hospitality and enforcement -- you uphold the brand standard, maintain a clean and organized facility, and ensure every member feels safe and respected. The ideal candidate brings a law enforcement or corrections background and understands how to de-escalate situations calmly, command respect without confrontation, and hold people accountable to the rules of the facility.
Duties
- Ensure the environment reflects Sanctuary Fitness brand standards — orderly, clean, premium
- Maintain a visible, professional presence on the gym floor at all times during shift
- Enforce facility rules and member code of conduct consistently and professionally
- Greet and acknowledge members; project approachability while maintaining authority
- Proven experience in security, law enforcement, military service or related fields is highly desirable
- Certifications in first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and basic emergency response procedures are preferred
- Strong conflict management skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods while maintaining alertness
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with team members and patrons
- Monitor the basketball court to ensure safe play, appropriate conduct, and adherence to court rules.
- Perform regular floor walkthroughs to ensure all weights and equipment are returned to their designated locations. Report any damaged or unsafe equipment to management.
- Monitor entry and exit points as directed; identify unauthorized individuals or suspicious behavior
- Document incidents accurately and submit reports to management promptly
- Coordinate with emergency services (police, EMS) when warranted
- Support staff in enforcing membership policies (e.g., guest access, expired memberships)
- Ability to stand and walk for shifts of 4–8 hours
- Ability to lift and carry weights and equipment up to 100 lbs
- Must be alert and attentive throughout entire shift
