Key Roles and Responsibilities1. Supervision and Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of security officers assigned to various hospital areas (wards, entrances, parking lots, emergency units, etc.).
- Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate security coverage across all shifts.
- Conduct briefings, assign tasks, and monitor performance of security staff.
- Enforce discipline, grooming standards, and code of conduct among security personnel.
2. Patient, Staff, and Visitor Safety
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff.
- Monitor access to restricted or sensitive areas (e.g., ICU, maternity wards, pharmacy, records room).
- Assist in managing aggressive or violent patients or visitors in collaboration with medical staff.
- Support patient movement during emergencies or evacuations.
3. Access Control and Visitor Management
- Supervise access control systems at all hospital entry and exit points.
- Oversee visitor registration, ID checks, and issuance of visitor passes.
- Ensure that only authorized personnel enter sensitive areas (operation theatres, labs, etc.).
- Manage parking and traffic flow within hospital premises to ensure smooth movement.
4. Emergency Response and Incident Management
- Lead and coordinate security response during emergencies (fire, medical emergencies, natural disasters, or security breaches).
- Conduct and participate in emergency drills and evacuation procedures.
- Respond quickly to alarms, disturbances, and calls for assistance.
- Investigate incidents such as theft, accidents, or suspicious behavior, and prepare detailed reports.
5. Coordination with Hospital Administration
- Work closely with hospital administration, nursing, and maintenance departments on safety and security matters.
- Liaise with local police, fire, and emergency services when necessary.
- Report all incidents and updates to the Hospital Security Manager or Facility Manager.
6. CCTV and Surveillance Management
- Monitor and review CCTV footage for unusual or suspicious activity.
- Ensure all surveillance equipment and alarm systems are operational.
- Report malfunctions and coordinate maintenance or repairs promptly.
7. Policy Compliance and Documentation
- Enforce hospital security policies and procedures consistently.
- Maintain logs, incident reports, visitor records, and patrol checklists.
- Ensure compliance with local laws, healthcare regulations, and patient privacy standards (e.g., HIPAA where applicable).
8. Training and Awareness
- Conduct training for security staff on hospital-specific procedures (handling patients, fire safety, infection control, etc.).
- Promote security awareness among hospital staff and visitors.
- Encourage a culture of safety and vigilance within the facility.
9. Risk Management and Prevention
- Identify and assess potential security risks within the hospital environment.
- Recommend preventive measures to reduce theft, violence, and unauthorized access.
- Support fire safety and infection control teams in risk mitigation activities.
10. Customer Service and Professionalism
- Provide assistance and directions to patients, visitors, and staff courteously.
- Handle sensitive situations (distressed families, deceased patient cases, etc.) with empathy and professionalism.
- Represent the hospital’s values while maintaining safety and order.
