JOB SUMMARY
The Security Supervisor will assist in the day-to-day and long-term operations of the Museum. To ensure a safe environment for visitors, staff, and Museum collections and property: supervise security personnel; patrol the Museum; participate in incident investigations; respond to emergency situations; prepare and submit reports to the Director. The Security Supervisor is responsible for the Security function when the Director is off-site.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Plan, schedule, assign, and monitor New York Historical security personnel;
- Assist in coordinating security needs for museum events and activities;
- Supervise contract guards;
- Work with the Director to conduct and monitor regular security and safety inspections;
- Complete reports and maintain files related to security and safety issues and problems and take appropriate action to correct problems;
- Work with Director of Security to respond to, investigate and file reports on incidents that occur on New York Historical property;
- Manage security function during after-hours events;
- Monitor building security systems including Closed Circuit TV, digital recording systems and electronic card access systems;
- Oversee fire warden teams and building evacuation personnel in accordance with NYC Fire Department rules and regulations;
- Perform miscellaneous assignments as assigned by the Director of Security.
REQUIREMENTS
- Current New York State Security Guard License from the New York State Department of State;
- Three years of experience in providing security at a large public access facility, including one year in a lead or supervisory capacity;
- Current certification for CPR and First Aid;
- Knowledge of electronic security & CCTV systems;
- Working knowledge of basic office software programs (MS Office);
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills, problem-solving abilities and strong leadership qualities;
- Qualification as a Fire Safety Director and Emergency Evacuation Supervisor preferred.

Candidate must possess visual acuity and good hearing, and must be able to stand on post for long periods of time. Walking, bending, and lifting moderate weights is also required for this position.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary: $28.00/hour
